Rear parking sensors "trick" not to remove the bumper (at least corner ones)

Hi, I don't think this was discussed before but there is a way to access and replace the rear corner parking sensors without removing the bumper. Not sure about the inner ones, I didn't really try to access them as I only had the rear right one to be taken care of. The "trick" is to remove the exhaust silencer, you then get easy access to the sensor without having to remove the whole bumper.

By the way, I am using one of these replacement sensors. I did test the resistance, the reading was fine. I'll see if that lasts or not.

The car was in because the AC compressor seized, I am also trying out a non OEM compressor, at least not sold as an OEM but it has all the right Delphi casting marks but not the sticker. We'll see about this as well. I also found OEM replacement ones with the right labels and all but already had purchased the other one before.

You can with a few tricks. Some of the bumpers, QP I think have a foam impact padded that goes over the sensors, if it has those, it’s bumper off.

If not you can access the corner ones from underneath but you may have to remove the rear silencer.

Centre ones, you undo all the lower screws (they will be rusty) then use a wedge to hold the lower section of the bumper open, I use a wheel chock.

This is based on it being on a ramp so you can get your arm all the way up.

If you don’t have a ramp I would take the bumper off as you just will not get the reach.

We have tried several aftermarket sensors and the yellow and black ones seem best.

You may have to snip off two lugs and file depending upon which location it goes in.

Most importantly you have to make sure the separate silicone washer is present, if not water gets in and the sensor will fail in a matter of weeks
