Range Low?

Unfortunately, some low-life stole the original toolkit after the auction, so I don't have access to the proper funnel.

As for the fuel gauge - since I'd never seen one in operation, I didn't know whether it was showing full or empty until I saw a photo of one in the Owner's Handbook. It was immediately obvious then that it was empty!

I still need to buy an OBD scanner that is compatible with the car; I'm currently torn between and Autel and a Launch.

I wonder if the anti syphon device has deployed. Having said that, there is a specific funnel in the tool kit.
My Jaguar has a “miss fuelling device, if you car has something similar and it’s been deployed, could that be why it’s won’t take on fuel.

Looked full on the photo :D

Wondering very similar.

Well - I thought the special funnel was in the toolkit that got stolen, but it turns out that it was still in its plastic bag in the little niche in the polystyrene insert that goes in the spare wheel well. I only found out when I re-fitted all the trim, etc. this morning. Consequently, I was able to drive over to my mate's place this morning where I got nearly a whole jerrycan of fuel in. The car drives beautifully, but after about half a mile the CEL/MIL starts flashing. I'll have to wait until Monday to borrow the OBD scanner that I used this week, so won't know until then what's causing it.

I ordered one this afternoon! I went for an Autel MaxiDAS DS808S-TS. I hope I chose the right one - it seems to do all the necessary things, but there's a mind-boggling array of different models to choose from and so little informed feedback to help you decide...

An update - the car has mostly been as good as gold, however, it did completely freeze up on me on Tuesday. I'd stopped for fuel, and when I got back in the car - nothing. I sat there for a few moments trying to think of a reason for its tantrum, but couldn't come up with anything obvious - such as battery warnings, so thought it must be an ECU issue.

Luckily, my new Autel scanner had arrived the day before, so I plugged that in and got 'Cam position sensor fault'. I erased the codes and it fired up straight away, and hasn't missed a beat since - although the Check Engine Light has come on and flashed a few times, and then gone out.

The strange thing is that it comes on if the car is left idling for a few seconds - such as when you're sitting at traffic lights, and then goes off again when you hit about 20 mph. I added an extra earth wire from the engine to the chassis today in case there was a lack of continuity - sometimes when an engine rocks on its rubber mounts this sort of thing can happen, but it doesn't seem to have made any difference.

If anyone has any ideas, I'd be keen to hear them!

When the CEL comes on and goes off, it's not storing any pending codes?

Yes, it does - the problem I'm having though is that I'm not convinced that they're 'genuine' faults. As they seem to be so transient and not directly related to each other, I'm wondering if there's a loose connector block or chafed wiring somewhere!

Possible. Have you got a record of what they are?

I've got the original faults written down - that is, the ones that came with the car, but the latest ones are still in the ECU. I have to get my Defender through an MOT this afternoon, but as it still needs a lot of work (turbo failure on a brand new cartridge), the GTS will have to wait for now - I'll report back as soon as I have them!

OK - the main fault is 'P2431-00 Secondary Air Injection System Air Flow Sensor Circuit Performance Bank 1'. There were also a few things like 'Can C Bus Performance' and 'Implausible Signal Received From Transmission Module', but these messages seem to come and go as they feel like it!

The usual causes of a secondary air injection fault seem to be:
a) the sensor not working
b) the solenoid sticking
c) a wiring fault

As I mentioned before, there are so many seemingly unrelated errors floating about that I'm given to wondering whether there's a broken/cracked connector or some damaged wiring somewhere. I will continue to investigate!

Secondary air system will make no difference to driveability. Or should. It's only about injecting air into the cats on start to reduce emissions. It should shut off after about 30 seconds.

I think the others are more pertinent

True - but when the MIL comes on for the secondary air, it masks any another problems that later crop up, so I intend to strip the front of the engine bay out to see if I can identify the problem. It'll have to wait until my Land Rover gets MOT'd though - I was hoping to take it today, but had to postpone due to the turbo manifold not fitting properly (all sorted now though!).
