QM is always right - fair enough. However, as QM has previously alluded to being punctilious I'm sure he would like to be accurate in his translation. Coque can be a seashell but it can also be many other types of shell or hard exterior. Seashell, typically, will be translated coquillage particularly where food is concerned.
The French will literally eat anything!

I don't disagree, that's why I awarded it to you, but thanks for the challenge, and expanding on the possible meanings.
I suppose I was just choosing a specific kind of shell, but as you say it could be any kind of shell, even the hull of a boat (coque de bateau), and for seafood and snails, coque or coquille or even coquillage would be perfectly right.
