Hmm. When I took my UK Audi to Sweden, it was enough to block out the MPH numbers so the KMH numbers became the only ones visible. A bit of black tape was all it took. You should check if the same rules apply.

Many thanks Paul, unfortunately the gauges I have are only in Mph at the moment - I have a new insert fro the cluster which is in Kph, unfortunately I can't find out how to remove it from the dashboard

You can switch the central display between MPH and KM with the press of one button.

Don't dials have to be coded to the car? I know audi have to be programmed to talk to ecu or they used to.

With my car , it's just a case of taking out the old disc and replacing it with the KMH disc which has the kmh numbers calibrated as the Mph ones. That part is easy, its the removal of the cluster that's the issue

And of course, your car has now done 60000km rather than 60000 miles. Bargain.
