QP V Expansion tank replacement - is it as simple as it seems?

Hi All

When Shiltech inspected my recently purchased 2008 QP V Sport GTS A they advised that the coolant expansion tank had a hairline crack, which I think is quite a common issue. I have purchased a brand new genuine replacement part from EuroSpares and plan to fit it this weekend.

It seems like a very simple and straightforward job, but before I press ahead with it I thought I should check to see if this is actually the case or if there are any issues with this job or any tricks I should know about?

Thanks for any advice.

Tim

Nope. It’s just an expansion tank. From a Fiat.

Great thanks, I thought it looked straight forward - but despite having only owned the car for a few weeks I am beginning to understand that this is not always the case!

I did mine for the same reason quite easy it helps if you have a turkey baster to suck out coolant from tank first then its just a case of removing bolt and hoses & your good to go.

Easy replacement and about £50 plus vat.

Don’t mix up the two small feed pipes on the top and there is one wider pipe underneath with a jubilee clip

You will need these:

One way to release, other way to do up.

Once fitted top up with water and run the car to temp with the cap off and the heater on full hot and full fan and make sure the cabin air is roasting.

Final top up and screw the cap back on, job done.
