Hi All,

I currently looking at the possibility of buying either a 4200 or a Granturismo.

Im a bit of a car buff, I'm the founder/ owner of www.xj40.com and I'm a big fan of Mazdas MX5

We own 2 Jaguars a XJ40 4.0S (Fatcat) & X350 Daily Driver 3.5 Sport (Alleycat) along with 3 MX5s Daily Driver 2009 1.8 (Jyu Jyu) 2015 ND 2.0 Sport (Rasper) and a very low miles 10k Mk2.5 Indiana (Pineau)

And yes we name all our cars.

This site is fantastic and I've already leant a lot but need to learn a bit more.

It will be 12mths before Im ready to buy so plenty of time to do my research.

Cheers

Lovely car John. What kind of driving do you prefer doing? The 4200 (imo) is more sporty than a regular GT (though hardcore versions of those exist), if it helps.

I spent a long time weighing up options before taking the plunge and treating myself to a 4200 manual earlier this year (this one in fact http://www.sovereigncarsales.co.uk/Prestige_Gridpos4.aspx).
I have never been so pleased with a purchase before. If you find a good one, don't think there is anything similar out there for the same money. Worth choosing what year you want to take advantage of cheaper tax (I think 2004 is the sweetspot, pre-facelift so you get the metal trident and nicer grill, post sticking up aerial for a cleaner line and save a couple of hundred on road tax each year).
I'm still very much learning, but happy to answer any questions you have as a first time Maserati owner.

4200 and GT are different beasts, and need to be driven differently. I loved my 4200. I love my GT. I think the MC-shift will be the perfect synthesis of the two....
