Potential 4200 new owner asking a favour.

I'm potentially looking to buy a 4200 Coupe, however I've not actually sat in one let alone driven one, so is there anyone in the Swindon/Glos/Bristol area who would be kind enough to allow me to come and look/sit in and possibly drive without the pressure of a dealer trying to sell me something.

Philw969 has always extolled the virtues of the 4200 (old rally buddy of mine when he was in the UK), and now I've decided to pack up motorsport I think it's time to time to have a serious look.

Unlikely you will find the farm so better in BS16, Just off the Avon Ring Road A4174.

PM me a number and I will text you.
Busy in St Catherine's Docks this weekend though.

Got a GS in Swindon that you welcome to have a go. On private land so could take for a tour of industrial estate. Not using car at moment but fully taxed and insured.

And for sale at a very low price for a GS.....Beware you may love it and have to buy it.

I do like the GS but alas far out of my price :(
What price are you considering? I may be selling my 4200 CC. I dearly love my car and want to keep it forever but ..... I have taken a residential position in oil & gas out in West Africa so the occasionally sensible part of me is nudging me towards selling. (Harley has gone, motorhome is going, BMW i3 soon to go!)
It is garaged, covered, battery on conditioning charger, just serviced at Autoshield.
If you decide it's a 4200 model you want then pm me and I can send photos, details etc.

I'm looking for £21,500 under 34k on clock, 100% condition, wheels just returned, lots of extra bits such as DBWM (never fitted), Quicksilver exhausts (plus originals) etc.

Still has 5 months of a dealer transferable warranty!

GS will be £18k as advised by Richard Grace. If 103k miles don't bother anybody for a fully sorted GS with £1000s spent and full and documented history in perfect condition in Med blue with Grigio interior. 5 years ago l was looking at 4200s but this GS came up at 4200 money. Never looked back and never let me down. Speak to Dick Lovett and my Indy in Swindon who will vouch for the car along with many forum members.

Still keen Phil, all pretty much depends on whether my back can put up with getting in and out of quite a low car and if the driving position is ok for me.
I went out for a drive today in the rally car (during the Fball as I can't stand it) and although my back has been operated on it's still agony, and to be honest I'm falling out of love with the sport.

Time I bought something sensible!
(Well that's what I'm telling Karen ;))

To be honest Andy the 4200 is the perfect GT with amazing performance.
Sounds to me like you might be better suited to my daily which is a Range Rover Vogue 4.4 V8 petrol but pure comfort ;)received_10214768644783056.jpeg

Since when have I done normal!
I need something in the garage for weekend use and tinkering purposes, I have my sensible daily (15 plate Skoda Octavia VRS 220tfsi mapped to 305bhp) so I want something a bit special to keep the "Petrolhead" in me happy.
It's all your fault again from when you bought the first one all those years ago, a Supercar at Mondeo money!

Reading through many of the classifieds and reading Sportsmaserati it's reasonably easy to sort the wheat from the chaff initially, however I would always prefer to buy from somebody who is an enthusiast and understands a particular car (like you when I bought my Quattro), and through the owners/enthusiasts club such as this.
I've got to sell the GT4/talk nicely to the bank/Karen (I know which will be the hardest) etc before I'll be in a position to buy, but if I do my homework now finding the right car should be easier later.

swiftmotorsport, I have a degenerative lumber spine, had emergency surgery two year ago, and may have to have it done again in the not too distant future. I’m 6’2’ and 82kgs and I can certainly vouch for the comfort of the Gransport seats even now. They are firm, but well shaped and have built in lumbar support. Can’t speak for the 4200 seats I’m afraid.

Many thanks that's good to know.
I was originally diagnosed with the same however a second consultant said my problem was spinal compression which he operated on me for, it has helped immensely but I do still get quite a lot of back pain if my posture is wrong, hence the request to have a good look/try in one.
