I would like to prevail upon forum wisdom with respect the NIT in my 2005 4200
Is there an electronic repair specialist familiar with these slightly antiquated units...?
I have concluded the issue with mine is inside the unit. Further, it is heat related (dry solder for my money) and seek someone who knows their way around them. Or perhaps they dont need a specialist knowledge ?

Grtzzz.....

Scored myself a replacement battery for the car. Nothing wrong with the old one, it was a bit puny @ 60Ah, so I replaced it with a 77Ah version, I am hoping this may solve the NIT issue...? Apparently this can be the result of voltage spikes.
Fingers crossed. I wont be getting the car out just yet however, not with more rain forecast here today...! :)

EDIT- Oh Bugger ! (said in a fast show stylee) The rain was a no show, so out she came ! It's still going haywire !

Can anyone confirm which cars used the Magneti Marelli "Connect" Infotainment system please ?
I have tried asking after specific cars parts with Eurospres and they want part number, DOB blood type ...bla h blah..
Im sure it's not necessary as I just want the unit they installed pre GS, and presuambly not in he 3200..?
Did the 4200 Spyder also go with Magneti Marelli?

I dont care about SatNav or phone...so any MM unit will do for me. I thought ?

Grtzzz...

4200 NIT is a Bluapunkt I think. But it's integrated into the car's systems. So it's linked to the aircon....

Can't recall if you can just swap them out or not. Better to take it to a car stereo expert, IMHO

I can offer a fix for the GT/QP units but not the 4200. I've not really looked into whether they use a hard drive or not. The 4200 always seemed a clunky system to me.

Its definitely Magneti Marelli, Ive seen the manufacturer's name on the unit..but that answers my question about the cars all having the same....Clearly 4200s were undergoing changes at the time too..
Ive left the VIN number with Eurospares, hopefully they will clarify what I need. Thats going to limit my options though..and in Maserati world, that means they will want stoopid money for it !

My aircon all works fine regardless of whether the NIT Is on or off...the backlighting is affected by the "blackouts" however...Just thinking the opton of unplugging it to stop the annoying malfunction as an interim measure is flawed if I cant control air...?!

Im hoping David Howson can let me have a CD that will overrite the firmware, which is the next port of call before I resort to replacing the NIT.

The NIT sat nav fitted Iveco Vans, as well as numerous other Italian Vehicles of a similar age, Lancias, Alfa 166 and big Fiats for example. .
