My First Maserati

After years of loving, and months of looking, I finally took the plunge yesterday and bought my first Maserati, a 2005 Quattroporte.

The evening before, I was full of doubt. Was I doing the right thing, trading in my trusty but boring BMW? Maybe it was nerves, as it was a private deal. But it turned out to be the easiest decision I've ever made, and it's amazing how easily your heart tells your head to get lost when you see and hear a QP!

But no research or test drive can prepare you for ownership of this beast. The drive home from Inverness to Wick, 100 miles of some of the best driving roads you can hope for, was an eye opener for several reasons.

Firstly, the power available…absolutely awesome. And the feeling of driving such a huge, heavy car, effortlessly. And of course, changing gear is an absolute art. Plus the looks from the locals in each of the wee towns we passed through, like they'd witnessed something spectacular. And then there's the creaky instrument binnacle, and the ill-fitting dash trim. And the warning light flashing for no apparent reason. ****, I even got to push the ‘Sport' button, when Mrs W took a nap!

I'm looking forward to getting to know this car...I do hope the feeling is mutual!

Indeed, if you keep the sport button pressed all the time, then Mrs W will be none the wiser! I hope your new prized possession always brings a smile to your face.

Warning lights are known as personality, they are fine as long as you are going in the right direction ;-) I feel comforted. By mine ;-)... Oh, and welcome

Congratulations.

I'm envious of you having those roads to play on.

My fondest memory, so far, of my QP ownership is taking it to the Western Isles: gorgeous roads, sparse traffic, and everyone seemed genuinely pleased to see the car.
