MC Stradale question re production numbers?

Hi Chaps,

Following on from my post in the newbie section (Aston owner looking for a new toy) I think the Stradale is the way forward, just a question with reference to production numbers really?

How many 2 seater versions were optioned with the factory fitted rear role cage, carbon bucket seats, 4 point harnesses, fire extinguisher?

Iainw posted a great one at GVE however, am wondering how rare this is? Numbers / colours would be awesome? not sure if we have that sort of data available? Really wondering what my chances are in finding the spec I want... can't do too much until the Vantage is gone naturally. I can't help think if your going for the 2 seater option it needs to be the full monty.

Thanks for everyones input already is been really helpful :)

The forum will be reproducing a cage fot the Strad ready by Spring next year. You will have to source your own Sabelt harnesses or stick with the fitted ones.

So realistically maybe a few a year will come up for sale in the specification, if currently 16 (actual adverts) are for sale on AT and only one matching that spec. Currently five 11 plates are for sale to offering the 2 seat version so maybe 7-10% of all stock potentially on 87 registered that possible 8-10 ekkkk lol shame that one at GVE has a deposit on it now ... I knows its a fairly crude way to look at the data but at least gives me an idea :)

Only a few of the 2 seaters had the cage and belts fitted. But no bother, they are still available from the factory so can be retro fitted. As for spec, I hope you like white and/or black, as I've seen precious few in any other hue.

I like the look of the cage and harnesses - and still can't believe the black one wasn't snapped up sooner.
From factory they would cost many thousands I presume so probably not fiscally sensible to retrofit.
Am I alone in not understanding why you would fit harnesses and a roll cages to a car that has a 0-60 time
Similar to hatchbacks / saloons like the Audi S3( not even RS), Merc CLA AMG, or basic porsches (carerra or boxster S).
I would feel a bit silly strapped in as a hatchback or boxster sprints off.
They look the dogs *******- why didn't they give them performance to match and then people wouldn't be discussing if they were worth the extra over a GTS

A little cruel Iainw - now that you have jumped ship - on the strads performance. Have you ever driven one :) ?? The strad will beat all cars you listed there other than a late carrera. Anyway: the cage and belts are NOT needed in this car, there I will agree, but they certainly add theatre, and this is why we buy these cars - not to be sensible!

I am not being cruel- and actually I LOVE the strad more
Than any other car. Nothing beats its sense of occasion and looks IMO.
My only comment was on the harness and buckets etc- and willing them to make it faster. But matt has suggested why before. I just think they are missing a trick- it's a true halo car and they should give it everything they have for performance wise.

The carbon buckets were standard on the two seater. As above there are a few with harness but not many......Coulours seem to be limited....Most are white or black....White was the launch colour.....For me black doesn't show the detail as well as white. There are a few Med Blue one.....One we know in yellow which is Merrians on here....That has harness and I've driven it...Its a stunner......Meridien had one for sale when they came out in MC Victory blue with a light white/cream type interior but not seen that one since and there are a few in Gringio Granito...... Finding a different colour will be difficult as I would say most have come up for sale over the years and not seen any other colours.

Full month is the way to go as that's the ones people will want in years to come.

Iainw, I agree, Maserati did make their halo car with the stradale. I can imagine some meeting room in which the Fiat group, Ferrari etc, were present when the idea was unveiled, and everybody liked the concept, except for the horsepower rating. After all, Maserati was the Gran Tourer, it could not be biting into Ferrari's sports car segment. And of course the F136 engine, in the 4.7l wet sump format could not be pushed then reliably to the >600hp levels it would later come back in the 458's. I would guess, pure conjecture, that the original stradale halo spec was presented at about 500Hp before it was given the elbow. So, Maserati had the choice to not build it, or make it racey (harness, CC brakes, carbon buckets) with "less" HP or not make it at all. Here, I guess (hope, of course) they got sneaky with the engine tune and left a few extra HP in there.

Again, I am a wistfully hopeful and still enamored owner, so take it all with a pinch of salt, but the stradale feels equally fast to my previous stormer - v10 m5 (507hp) and my limited track tests prove that. It is quite telling here: http://fastestlaps.com/tracks/hockenheim-short that the stradale was almost 2 seconds faster than the gran tourism sport -with 'the same' engine. I don't think it can only have been handling. My empirical tests (straight line races on real track, closed) show it faster than a 997.1 GT3 and a new Boxter GTS. These were repeated tests, with my ropey driving. Mind you, the other guys could have been ropier!

Back on topic!!! http://www.maseratilife.com/forums/granturismo/26498-final-figures-produced-2-a.html

If the Stradale was their halo car their levels are too low IMHO. Ford brought out the new GT as their halo car at £350k. Maserati need a halo car with a bit more differential from a GT S to a Strad or halo car.

By Maser standards that is quite a good number. In the U.K. they only managed 7 Shamals, 24 Ghibli Cups, 15 MC-Victory and (I think) 3 MC-12. But I agree, by any other standard that is a very low number. Lovely car.

Thought I saw another post a while back indicating c.70 of them in the UK. Can't find it. No recollection of whether it referenced worldwide production though.

Is it as simple as simply taking the current number of 95 @ end of Q1 and subtracting those cars registered pre-2013 (as in when the 4 seater was introduced)? Crude but could give an indication? Roughly 95 less 40 or so = 55?

Yes, that gives a good indication I agree. 2011 & 2012 were definitely all 2 seaters and 2014 onwards are all 4 seaters but for 2013, there was some cross over but yes, I would say the split is roughly 40/55
