Maserati UK sales (or rather lack of them)

I watched a Petrol Ped video on YouTube where he was loaned a Roma coupe for the weekend. He took it to a very expensive luxury hotel in Devon- Lympstone Manor and preceeded to negotiate the ridiculously narrow roads that are down there, whilst his wife drove it back home.
His wife eulogised at what a great car it was to drive whilst travelling at 40 mph, and Petrol Ped doubtlessly cos Ferrari loaned him the car spoke in similarly.
However I can't but help wonder whether the journey in any family car would have been just the same. If anything it would have been more refined with a better ride, and certainly more practical! The point I'm making, where at those speeds and on those roads does driving a Ferrari make any sense, apart perhaps from seeing the reactions from passers-by!

One of the things that somewhat irks me is whether the “Nettuno” V6 in the new GT and Grecale is just the Alfa 90 degree V6, 20 more bhp, and none of the sexy Nettuno bits from the MC20?

What’s the truth with this??

Then the Grecale is a stretched Stelvio for a lot more money and arguable worse looking?

Would like to try a Grecale Trofeo if there have dropped a bit when I come to replace the F pace SVR.

Totally agree but tbf that’s always been the case especially as cars have been getting bigger. Add in to the fact the potholes and lots of these roads losing chunks on the side they’re best avoided in any big car.
One story my much missed dad use to tell me was when I was a tot the family went to Devon in our Mk10 Jag and there was a very narrow bridge to negotiate, he went over it with no problem, on the way back when he went to drive over it again there was someone giving him directions how much room he had either side, he ended scraping the car all done one side.

I was at a Roma launch event at the local dealer. It looked really good in the colour they had there (pics below). I turned down a free trip to Italy to test drive one due to prior commitments, Maserati related, but am expecting a test drive later in the year. My problem with it will be the same as the new GranCabrio, direct sunlight on the screens you use to control everything make it difficult to make changes with the roof down. That said, who cares. You don't need the audio or air-con with the roof off :D

That rear has the look of 911 to my eyes.

I think it's the same Nettuno engine, which is itself built on the Alfa 90º V6 block IIRC, just lacking on the turbo front. It's a similar relationship between the two Ferrari built V6s from the previous generation. Its much cheaper to have a single engine with different turbo configurations than to maintain two completely different engines.

I'd be interested looking at the Grecale at some point but it lacks some of the nice luxury touches from the Levante, soft-close doors , so second hand I think I'd go for another Levante.
