Maserati Specialist Recommendation

Hi,

With the sudden closure of SI, I was wondering if there are any recommended garages around Somerset or Northamptonshire area? I think Emblem are quite pricey with a long lead time. I’ve used Shiltec previously when I worked near Loughborough but the last few years I e always gone to SI for the Ferrari and the QP more recently.

Thanks

A few of us will be in the same boat.

When I first got my Maserati I was recommended to these guys who were in Watford and are now in Aylesbury.

Emblem quoted exactly the same as SportsItalia to change my clutch. Literally to the last penny and had a shorter lead time to the tune of 3 weeks. Also, unlike a lot of other marque specialists Emblem maintain full subscription to Maserati diagnostic services and software, which means they can flash modules and also update them with the latest versions, not just interrogate them via SD3/Leonardo.

Last but not least - I have dealt with quite a few specialists through being involved on both sides of the fence with historic motorsport and restorations. Although this is my first time dealing with Emblem, I am certain that I am in good hands. The way Myles just knew stuff straight away that this forum struggled with was very telling…

Hope this helps,

Alex

Will give them a call but previously they have had long lead times and a cam belt change was much more expensive on my 612.

Let’s hope prices stay that competitive

In the south of England I’d recommend Emblem. Not only is Myles arguably the most competent Maserati specialist around, but also, the price they quote will be realistic for top quality work.

I’m sure plenty on here will have experienced specialists that imply bargain prices but then deliver surprisingly big bills. What may seem cheap at first glance, doesn’t always end up so. Hence I find it better to stick with a company with an unimpeachable reputation.

I think you are confusing a group of like minded owners spending their own time trying to help each other with a specialist garage.

Emblem are extremely knowledgable, as you would expect, but it’s not clear why that would be telling of anything in particular.

Emblem did the ppi on the first Maserati I bought, a 3200 back in 2007, and I've used them ever since. I'm old school (and old) so I tend to stay with businesses that provide the service I want at a price I'm prepared to pay; that may be a garage, supermarket, or lately a car insurance company. I periodically price check, but unless there are significant savings without a downside I tend to stay put and maintain the relationship as long as it works for me.

I'm not rich so I've had conversations with other indies over the years and the ones we generally recognise (SI, Shiltech, Autoshield, etc) have been very supportive even if I've not subsequently used them, and I regard the departure of SI as a loss to the Maserati community. Zep makes a valid point about forum support, but at the end of the day we are running high performance, and sometimes temperamental, exotics that might need expert attention with the right kit to hand, and given the lack of Maserati support these days a good indie is priceless.

'Sometimes temperamental' I am not sure if that is the correct terminology, perhaps 'Constant pain in the derrière ' would be more appropriate?

What’s the views on Autofficina? I used them 10 years ago when I had my first GT and they did a good job from memory fixing a fault.

I didn't use them because they were 4 hours away but I found Aldous Voice to be very knowledgeable and helpful when he used to post on here as voicey, avengineering in challock

I use AV for both my 360 and the GT. Can’t fault them, they always go above and beyond and their service attitude is second to non.
Highly recommend them.

Is Voicey taking on anew customers, Brian, especially Maserati? I had a feeling his customer list was full and he was only doing prancing horsey stuff now, But I may very well be wrong.
