When I had it it was already partly stripped, had new rear end, and new front wings, engine had been rebuilt. I sold it to Ron, the seller now. Emailed him to say it was nice to see the car looking so good now, no owners inbetween. Reply will give an insight into restoration. "Hi Allan
Nice to hear from you.
It was me you sold it too. I did visit you as I said I would but unfortunately you had moved.
It was a fair bit of work bringing the Merak back to its current condition. After having it sand / bead blasted and coated, it lay in my garage for quite a few years before it was started,It has been completed about 6 years now, but is seldom used, 2 or 3 times a year. I do not take it out in the wet so opportunities at weekends are limited.
It has the looks, and has a real growl from the exhausts, but the driving position is not so good. Italians must be built differently to us."
I might try and get over to see it, as I missed his visit when he brought the final result round. I would have hoped it would realise mid to high 20s.
