Just found this out, must say I am very disappointed, was really looking forward to see Maserati racing at Le Mans this year

No Maserati at Le Mans 2010
But we will continue to see 4 Maserati MC12 in the FIA GT Championship 2010, 2 run by Vitaphone Racing Team and 2 by the Triple H Team Hegersport, both german teams.

According to the change of the regulations for the Le Mans 2010 race, the GT1 class has been modified in order to accept FIA GT1 cars as well with very little modifications. As Vitaphone Racing has won the FIA GT1 Championship in 2009, it is only a question of a new homologation to finally see the Maserati MC12 in Le Mans!

Don't get it. The rules have been changed to allow FIA GT1 cars but the MC12 won't participate because it needs to be rehomologated? Can't be all that hard otherwise I doubt any GT1 cars will make it to Le Mans.

I think its subject to change, but it does not look good. If they can get the homologation passed and there is still room, then its possible but its a great shame.

If Le Mans is going to allow FIA GT1 cars to participate with minimal changes, I suppose the organisers and the FIA have been in talks to make this happen. Maserati teams may choose not to participate for all sorts of reasons but the actual statement posted makes me think there is an interest in getting the GT1 cars to participate, so I actually read it as a positive, not a negative.
