I had a look at the script on the ashtray last night, it became a bigger job than anticipated because when I removed the brake caliper decal I had in place the adhesive remained, when I tried to remove the adhesive the rubberised coating on the lid started to disintegrate!
Anyway I have stripped and repainted the ashtray lid satin black and it looks better for it, the script looks fantastic only thing is it needs to be taller, the sample I have is only 5mm tall and it would appear it needs to be 7mm at least, and I think we could probably get away with 3 locating lugs even though the original has 4, the bottom photo is off the web from a unit for sale, I actually think the script made by my jeweller looks better!
My view is the original looks cheap towards the sample, I have done a sketch of the lid which shows dimensions for the locating holes in relation to the script for my jeweller, and have been in touch for his comments, I will advise when he gets back to me and think he will be able to do this without the need to purchase an ashtray to copy.
Any observations guys?
