That's a lovely looking car. Don't know it but at that money has to be worth a look. Is the manual clutch the same money as a CC one then ?

Guys ,
I have a customer that has a Manual face lift car that he is looking to sell , and if I remember it’s only got around 34000 miles .

Hi all. I'm on the look out for a 4200. Need another v8 in my life. Does anyone know anything about this one? https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201801253089566?logcode=visc&fromSA=true

Is it still expensive to change the clutch on the manuals?

I've seen it, and driven it . I didnt buy it !

To be fair, I think it has been mostly quite well cared for. There is a reasonable history with the car.
I thought it drove well. Better than the car I landed in the end but that's a slightly misleading observation... As I said, it drove well, and the engine felt strong & responsive...It did have engine noise...a "tick". Im not going to guess at what it was here...
The gear change mechanism needed attention but this is to be expected, and something you will quickly learn when you own a lovely manual car !!
It has problems beyond this though..! Enough to scare me off Im afraid !
I dont know that I should be pillorying somebody's sale really but anyway; the glazing seals are bad on both the front and rear screens. .It leaks basically! There something a bit mickey mouse about the nearside rearview mirror unit and it's attachment to the car too.. and an attempt at repair is not too pretty...!
Additionally, it chucked it down in an "April shower" stylee whilst I test drove the car...within seconds I had to lower the drivers window to see where I was going, the screen was so misted up...Id guess the heater matrix is also leaking. This is a dash out and major works deal. That said, they all fail after 15 years anyway, so there's that !

I'm not a fan of tan, cream or white leather...I thought I wanted a car with sober paint and black leather...I got one with red leather, and to my surprise, I love it. The Alfieri grey and black interior is rather underwhelming as it turns out...A matter of personal taste though, granted !

Overall, the car is great except for those rather large elephants in the cabin !

For my money, as a newbie forum member, new to cars and especially, Maseratis, my advice would be to go for a car the forum can recommend...
Maserati Dealers dont tend to punt older cars...Your average forecourt dont really know what they are, and less, how much they are actually worth. ( They were asking £13,995 )
A car that comes recommended by Marios & Grace Cars, with 34K miles on it would be a good place to start. Even if it is only to find out what your up against..condition and price wise...!

HTH!
Grtzz...!

Thank you for all the responses. Just the information someone new to Maserati needs. Totally agree about getting a sorted car to start with. I never knew about the matrix problems. What is a fair price to pay for a good one?

As with any car of this age, condition is key.
Particularly in the Maserati world, mileage seems to be closely related to value too.

I bought mine, a 2004 face lift coupe gt (so manual like this car) 2 years ago for £14 with mid to high 60s on the clock. I went for mechanically sound over perfect condition knowing that things like a front bumper needing it paint or bubbling paint on mirror mounts can be rectified later easily.
There are a few high ticket items as you'd expect (clutch, gear linkage cables, wheel bearings, brakes), but then there are few other cars that offer as much for so little.

Manual cars are rare. Cambiocorsa might even be better (never driven one..)

Fair price...
A recent respected long term forum user sold a CC with about 65k miles with a recent clutch for about 16k which seemed to be a really good price.

Add more for less miles.

It doesnt matter how much money you have . These are no longer available I understand. For love or money !

Knowing what you are getting into is priceless. That goes for the marque, and PPIs...
...but then there are few other cars that offer as much for so little.
This can certainly be true.
Happy hunting !

There was a new set on ebay (gear change cables) for around £1000 at one point, I'm sure you could get some made with some investigation if required.

I am thinking about selling my 2004 manual with 51,000 on the clock, full service history, recent clutch replacement and known to other forum members. If you are interested then PM me and I can send further details.

Cant speak from experience but it seems likely remaking cables might present less work than fitting them, certainly !
This looks like a good car if you especially want a manual...
Full service history and very little use in recent years, having spent the time in a collectors garage. I very nearly bought it sight unseen...! :p

When you see the price of other cars on that site you realise what a bargain our cars are. I was at a small car show in Norfolk yesterday and young and old people were familiar with the name 'Maserati' and you could tell they thought the car must of cost a fortune(little did they know). The name is up there with the best with Aston,Ferrari, Lamborghini etc even to those with just a passing interest in cars.

Morning all, well I’m glad I logged in this morning, due to go and have a look at this on Tuesday. Looks a good price for the right colour and gearbox for me. However the gear linkage is a worry as is the heater matrix.
Will still go and check it out but has given me some fantastic information to make sure I do not miss anything. Thanks all.
If anyone else has or knows of a similar Manual for sale please let me know. Would prefer silver or grey and must be Manual.
