Leather Care

The first thing that I ever did to my 3200GT when I first bought it in 2009, was to treat the leather with leather care cream (the white stuff that looks a bit like hand cream). I gave it many coats, working the cream into the harder areas with my hands. The result is, that now the car is coming up to 20 years old, the leather is soft and supple and has not faded, worn or cracked.

Errm bit too late for me lol, to be fair it's only the drivers bolster that shows any wear on my chariot, the rest is pretty mint. It's on the list to do, just I need to divert funds elsewhere at the minute :goodjob:

On the look out for a driver's door card (red/blk) as mine's been kicked repeatedly and badly scuffed beside the speaker. And the corner by the drivers shoulder, it has baked and cracking...

Previously I used ColourLock leather dye to repair worn seat bolster leather in my Jaguar. Their website and videos are very helpful. I was very nervous about sanding leather (fine and gentle) and then degreased with rubbing alcohol (c. 70% proof and £2 a bottle at old fashioned chemists). I rubbed in the dye in a circular motion a few times and it worked. I really thought that it can't work and was a fiddle (sorry!).

I think you'll be gob-smacked.

Watch their YouTube video as an example. Their black leather dye will suit the Maserati.

They also have a 'liquid leather' filler, but look at the videos to see their various repairs, including steering wheels. They can also match colours from 1 inch squares of your car's leather if not in stock.

Happy to answer any questions and pleased to have tried to be useful on day 1!!!

I just had a look at their website. They have bordeaux listed as a standard colour but looks nothing like my bordeaux.
I would certainly be interested in attempting this on my seat bolster if I could get the right colour.

I use Woolies Trim and send them a small sample of leather (behind the rear armrest) to get a match. Amazing results but have never got on with the sealing cream...it takes the colour off. A spray sealer would be better if anyone knows of one?

I have a set of colourlock in maserati nero to fix up my front seats as well. It looks very easy to do, im hoping it is. Worst case i would need to get the car to a professional, but worth a shot at this price. Just have to find the time to work on it :)

Do watch their videos. Slow and carefully works and I use rubbing alcohol as my de-greasant.

If It's not broken just leave it alone... but do check the lower wishbone bush area front and rear for cracking and make sure any of the dampers aren't weeping!
