since I got marci in march I have done a few things to try and get her as right as possible because well, why get one of these and not do that, right?
from major things like a timing belt service & replaced water pump to more minor things like chip repair to nose and door then a few other odds n' sods in between. well, after today with getting her wheels back from being refurbed and the dent devil "magician" having just left after fixing the last tiny door dent I think she is just about there with nothing left on my list needing doing:numberone:
engine running beautifully (tempting fate I know ;)), body has been clayed then polished and waxed to Nth degree and interior valeted and leather treated.....a real shame to take her out just to get dirty, but I will!:saifi3:

looking forward to seeing her and the fruits of your work at Brunty. Just spent a few hours going over mine, but after a drive up on Friday in the rain she's not going to look her best but hopefully I won't have picked up anymore of the cow manure that caked my arches after a blast through Dartmoor at the weekend. The forecast for the weekend is not looking great.

Its always a great sense of achievement getting a car looking its best. I spent ten hours helping a elderly relative getting his 330Ci back to perfect...he couldn't believe I could get the cream leather looking like new again after they looked almost blue in place due to denim dye.

Clay is a process after washing and before waxing the car.
It is like a plasticine type product that used with a spray lubricant is rubbed across the paint work removing tar and road rash and any previous wax and brings the paint to a glass like surface before you re wax the vehicle.

Did mine last week and after waxing the body work looks amazing :)

Clean soapy water works as a lubricant as well, but you can use detailing spray, just more expensive. Clay does wonders with grit and other imperfections, I even removed some pretty solid over-spray from my bonnet two months after the bumper was last sprayed...pretty amazing stuff. I got mine at the last DMC meet, but halfords have a selection or buy it online.

I use the Farecla clay mitt. Brilliant results and much easier than a bar....

Feel free to come and keep your hand in on mine Greg, now that Marci is done. Got to admit I cant really get into the cleaning, she gets some water chucked on her from time to time and a slap of polish occassionaly! :( I'm probably the reason detailing companys exist! lol

Steve - I've always used Bilt Hammer clay since i read about it's good reviews on detailingworld.com - you just need clean water as the lube! ;-) It works very well!
