Cartronics want £2500 for an install ... no mention of reverse camera etc

Given the Head unit is what £550 ish, that's alot of labour charge especially as I have my car interior apart already.

Definitely can't afford that and I don't think it represents decent value.

@Helipedia any updates on your overall experience so far?

Mine is all disassembled right now and was disappointed to see the back of the factory unit is all cracked and has screws missing. Clearly has been abused in the past, maybe when the sticky buttons were sorted.

Considering my options whilst I've got everything disconnected.

Did you get your hazards working?
hazards still not working but I'm confident I can make it work (5V missing at the button. The overall feeling is not bad. I've decided to go ahead with Carplay and not with the Android screen ordered an USB bluetooth adapter which should make that possible without pluggin in the phone.

I broke down and ordered one of these yesterday. One thing I'm curious about is what others do with the nit plastic cover which attaches to the nit.

It attaches to the NIT cage, not the NIT itself. Just insert the NIT cage into the arm rest and then any aftermarket unit into that.

I was looking at pics last night and wondered if that separated, thanks for the reply.

No problem.

It does, not the easiest job to take the NIT out of it, took 2 of us to release the metal tabs etc but perfectly doable.

Hmm the lower dash lights aren't working, does anyone else that has the acar have that problem? I know it's common with replacing with aftermarket. This thing is a wiring rats nest lol Took me a while to get canbus working.

You need to send 7v down the iso pin with the grey and black wire, that connected into the back of the original screen (at the top).

You can take 12v from the cigarette lighter circuit (which is connected to the main lights) and step it down to 7v.

There's a few posts about it on here.

I went to run the cable down and the hvac plastics crumbled so I had to put that mess back together. They do have a plug that goes where the powered lights are but it doesn't seem to work. That harness seems to also split off for the hazard switch. All the hazard switch does is light up and blink when you activate the right side turn signal. The big harness has room for 3 connectors but I'm only using 2 of them. On the plus side after getting ahold of them they gave me a download to change the boot logo, I made a custom one inspired by the original. Worse comes to worse I may have to run a separate power wire for the lights. The hazard switch, I have no idea what to do with right now.

Looking to tackle this project this winter while I have things apart for a heater core upgrade.
How did the sound quality come out in the end?
Does CarPlay work out of the box? The website for the unit seemed to imply it does but the discussion in this thread pointed to needing more than this unit.

Any additional wiring harness mods needed, or is it all in the kit?

Sound quality seems ok to me, but my car has aftermarket speakers so YMMV on that one. Wired carplay works through the zlink app. I think this is the way most android units work. It's a little slower to react to changes this way but it works for me. For me the lower dash lights don't light up so I will have to run power to them, it's been covered in another thread somewhere. On a side note the flasher relay was bad in my car, that seems to be why I had issues.

My hazards still not working - any recommendations?
For wireless Android I had to buy a USB dongle from Temu...

For me, it was the flasher under the dash. Do you know for sure it was working before you installed? I would also double check the connections.

I came across a product that might be of interest for those doing this conversion. When fitting a aftermarket hazard switch, it’s difficult to find one which is both backlit and has a different colour when switched on.

These switches are good value and can be backlit and illuminate in a different colour when powered by a a seperate input.

I've installed one of these, I have the same issue with the hazard warning lights. The button flashes when the right indicator is activated. Have you had any luck resolving this? Also, my center console lights do not work.

Those are the two issues I still have. I'm planning on using a buck converter as someone mentioned in another post for the console lights. Right now mine is all apart as I'm slowly putting the interior back together after changing the heater core.
