This may help some unfortunate soul. It's American but I assume applies over here.

It appears this video has stopped working. If you search on YouTube for "Grantourismo Flat Battery", the first result is this video.

What a place to put the boot opener!! Almost as bad as a petrol release flap button in a glove box!!

What a masterpiece of Italian engineering....I would never have thought of that idea....neither would any other manufacturer. Gotta love these cars to put up with this sort of stuff

I think it's the Alfa GT / 156 / 147 have pretty much exactly the same emergency boot release.

Now that was a handy video this afternoon... thanks Klive.

Although with the battery showing fully charged and being conditioned by the charger only yesterday I'm not sure how it managed to go completely flat by today. Odd. Something to keep an eye on.

I had a dead battery on my QP. My boot has a key hole next to the number plate light, but the key was stuck in the ignition. The mechanic who came out showed me that there's a hole next to the ignition lock. If you remove the grommet and using a pen, or scrrewdriver, you push the button through the hole and lo and behold the key pops out, and you use it to open the boot and jump start the car. The video showing the cable will also be a help.

Fred, that's good to know. Alfa 166s have a little pull-knob below the ignition for this purpose. Presumably Maserati use the same lock part but have chosen a slightly different emergency release.

The key release of the boot is also an Alfa trick. Remember, you have to press down on the boot lid quite hard while turning the key in the concealed lock.
