We took 1.5 hrs and had to remove the spot welded brackets off the old resonator to resuse

easy job for a dealer/indie

I have to do one next month as well as the back boxes and would imaging it would be as Adam suggests, that is based upon having the car on a ramp of course.

I was invoiced for 5 hours plus materials to fit the x pipe and cut out the decats and replace with straight pipes. When I questioned it, it was reduced to 4 hours, but tbh it still seemed like overkill to me and hence the reason I have asked the question on here.

They simply cut out the decats and in their place fitted straight ss pipes, and then fitted the new X pipe which I supplied. This exhaust mod has been done by another Aussie and provides a reasonable sound for not a lot of money (not taking into account my fitting bill of course)!
There was a youtube video posted of his car taking off under the MaseratiOz Breakfast thread.

U initially asked the question only regarding the X pipe - didn't mention the decats.

That would easily be another 1 hour to remove/refit plus the effort in welding in straight pipes - 3 hours would be reasonable plus materials

Can you explain a little more... what do the brackets do?

My post was a unclear - poor terminology.

I should have said clamps not brackets. When u purchase the Larini X pipe, it comes with a set of clamps - I managed to lose these. On the OEM resonator (item the x-pipe replaces), we had to grind off the clamps which were spot welded to re use.

In essence, you don't need any brackets as all items in the exhaust jigsaw are clamped. Simply unbolt and bolt

(All work carried out with car up on hoist)

I only asked about the x pipe because I already had an idea about the time it would take to do the straight pipes.
so, 3 hours = reasonable, 5 hours = unreasonable?
As I said in the end I was charged for 4 which is not a lot more than 3 but only because I questioned it.
The exercise has however taught me to get a quote before hand!
