Afternoon peeps, everything going really well, weather reasonably warm here.
However, the car has just gone into limp mode. Luckily I wasn't far from home so got it back. Currently disconnected the battery hoping it will reset. However, is there anyone close to Pencoed in Wales itch a diagnostic reader who would be willing to come and see if the problem is obvious..?? Prior to me giving Dick Lovett a call??

Many thanks in advance for any help offered.

Cheers

Stuart

Ps, noticed an E on the drivers console display

the E on dash is related to the air con unit. there is a sequence to identify the error code on the display and clear it but i am not close to a manual. the limp mode, is a unrelated to the E but it could be a number of issues but most likely its the throttlebody assuming you have a 3200. the best way to tell is to plug the SD3 maserati diagnostics which dick Lovett should be able to help you with. let me know if that's the issue as I do the contactless upgrade in the UK and I am based in Cheltenham

Bill,
Cheers for the reply.
I can't get to Dick Lovett unfortunately as just moved to Wales?
How much are we talking for the upgrade, how long does it take??
I am also needing a starter motor changed?.
Is there anything I can do to trick the car out of recovery mode do I can get it to Dick Lovett??
Cheers

Hi,

It could be a large number of things, so you'll have to find out what's at fault by reading the ECU - it won't necessarily be very expensive to repair either. You can do this yourself if you fancy learning about the car. What year is your 3200? If it's 2001 onwards you can connect a standard EOBD fault code reader, if it's earlier you could use an VW reader (£10, have a look at reading error codes thread on this site).

Hope this helps,

Steve

On the 4200 press and hold the econ and recirc buttons until the display changes to AA and then a cycle of numeric codes.

shining on mine sometimes..it's the temperature sensor that is on the bottom side of the external mirror (driver's side).

Chris, thanks for the tip!

No problem Nik. I'm trying to get the codes listed, but no one seems to know them :( We're *pretty* sure that AA55 is the flaps getting a bit stiff. Particularly happens in cold weather as the lubrication stiffens up. You can hear the flaps cycling as the system boots. The other one I get is AA114 which I can trigger by either manually selecting or forcing the system into re-circ, so that seems linked to the re-circ flaps.
The rest are greek to me.

Since you have an AC the connector type for diagnostics is a standard OBD, meaning you can connect it using standard cables to a standard OBD reader, if not to diagnose then just to reset. There is some software freely available, do a search for unidiag on here to find the software. You can then install this on your laptop and connect the cable to your car and read, diagnose and reset faults.

Happy days, car sorted by a lovely man at Totsl Car Care, just a question of some loose connections by the pedals.
Looking good for the car meet at Swindon. Thanks to everyone for all the advice.
