Hi all
just joined the Maserati owners club - with a recent dream purchase of a lovely grancabrio sport.
I have been watching these battery posts with interest and bated breath. Left in garage for one week (after a long motorway drive to get it home) and when trying to start just a clicking, flashing dial lights and host of error messages.

Welcome to the forum. Its not uncommon for these cars to eat batteries if they are not used on a regular basis and not kept on a trickle charger / smart charger.

First things first. If you dont already have one invest in a smart charger. Ctek and noco if you want to spend a decent amount or cheaper options are available such as the gooloo.

GOOLOO 6 Amp Smart Battery Charger, 6V and 12V Trickle Charger and Maintainer for Lead-Acid Battery, Up to 150Ah, Battery Desulfator with LCD Display Pulse Repair Charger https://amzn.eu/d/3H7RInM

That one comes with the quick connect leads that you can attach to the battery and leave in place. Connects to the charger with a 2 pin connector and you can also get an extention cable if you need a longer lead.

The smart charger will run a desulphication cycle to try and repair / regain lost charge holding ability.

Fully charge the battery and then if you have access to a volt meter check the voltage as fully charged on the car and after 24 and 48 hrs later without use. That should give you a fair idea if that battery is goosed or you have a parasitic drain.

Voltage on a fully charged good battery will be between 12.75 and 12.95 volts approx. If its much below that then the battery is showing its age and would probably benefit from a new one soon.

My Strad will start perfectly even after being left for 2-3 weeks outside in all weathers, it is not fitted with a tracker which would be a constant drain, so a trickle charge is a good option. I do charge mine if leaving it for longer.

Welcome to the forum. Do you have pictures of your new motor? Where are you located?

Fwiw I just bought a Hulkman £49.99 with a £10 voucher that cropped up at checkout. Having read the reviews of Ctek and Noco I wasn't confident either justified the price tag. And at the lower end of the scale everything just looks like generic/rebranded dropshipped junk from China. To be fair Hulkman is a proper brand with a range of chargers and boosters, well packaged solidly built, 3yr warranty. Would recommend.

C-Tek still the best. I have had mine for 12 years. The cheap ones don't reset if there is a power outage. The C-Tek does.

The Aldi and LiDL ones suffered a power outage. Did not reset the charging, the battery died whilst out of the country for weeks.
