Hi guys - this has just failed on the MOT & I have sourced a new one, but Im just wondering if anyone on here has had to replace one before and is it a easy job?

Two or three bolts and a cable release ?

Cheers

Are you sure it's the lever and not the shoes
The handbrake is shockingly bad on these
I have just spent 2 months getting mine sorted - the work is easy (ish) the parts took the time
pM me your number and I can talk you through it

I have just dismatled and completely rebuilt my handbrake after failing an MOT and the handbrake lever was the only part that was ok. What exactly is wrong with it? If you really need a hand brake lever try David Askew who has second hand parts.

It was the cable on mine, corroded under the sheath covering........appeared to move at one end, but not really at the brakeshoe end

More than likely the cable, the cable inside the sheath starts to split and then the ends of the split dig in to the outer sheath, basically jamming the cable..!!

Exactly my problem - plus the little pin inside the drum that fell out on the actuator
Mind you, new discs and painted calipers do look cool - could have done without the £500 expense

Terrible to think this one item (ultra cheap and SH!TLY designed) on our Masers gives so much grief and endless bother....but then again why be surprised
