Hi all,

Putting this message in here as I didn't have any response from the GranTurismo page.

I'm thinking of getting a carbon boot spoiler for my facelift 2013 GTS. As I live in Hong Kong I was looking at getting one from China, but after a lot of digging around I have come across a lot of suppliers that have different year dates that the spoiler can be used on ie. 2007-2011 only, 2008 to 2013 etc Basically, is there a difference in the boot from the pre/post facelift model???

Also, what is the best method of fitting the spoiler?

Many thanks

Re fixing the spoiler, depends how big it is.

A small one will fit with 3M type tape but if it's a silly big one it may need bolting on which of course requires you to drill holes in the car.

Out of interest the small one on the GS is fixed by four bolts and tape

I agree , 3M tape if it’s a lip spoiler , Sikaflex or Tiger seal is good too or , of course , bite the bullet and drill holes in your pride and joy ........ gulp !!

Thanks guys, no, just looking at the small boot lip spoiler. Not into those stupid whale tail thingys.

I still don't understand why a lot of the suppliers state certain year cars only for their spoilers. I thought the boot was the same on all the GTS.

No there is definitely a difference. I don't have definitive details though :(

Contigo has some experience with after-market boot lip spoilers and might be along soon with some insights, otherwise send him a personal message.

I take it your 2013 boot spoiler is a part of the boot and not detachable (the one on my Strad is).

The early GTS is and the carbon spoiler goes over the top as its a bigger profile.

If it is, why not just get it carbon dipped?

To remove it, use fishing line in a sawing action (you can use dental floss for smaller badges but its not very strong and snaps)

Yes, I got one from China, had it flatted, prepped, carbon effect hydro dipped then lacquered. Lots of 3M tape and it's been up to 178mph to test if it comes off and no it didn't.

Thanks for the info. What year is your car? If its a 2013 onwards do you have any contacts from the supplier?

Thanks for any help.

"Well, officer, it was all in the interests of health and safety. I needed to know that I'd stuck my boot spoiler on nice and tight, you see..."

You have to make sure you get the spoiler for the curved boot and not the flat boot.

From my understanding and from experience (fitted a spoiler on my 4.2 with the flat boot) the official MC Sportline spoiler comes with bolts and you have to drill through your boot and they only fit on the flat boot. I wasn't prepared to put holes through my car so I got someone to remove the bolts and I used 3M tape and it worked perfectly.

I think formuladynamics do one for curved boots but they are rather expensive.

Brilliant, thank you. Sounds like what I was after.
