GS boot not opening by key remote or glove box button

Suddenly, my boot won't open from my key remote or the button in the glove box. The fuel filler flap button works normally. There is no click or sound when I press the boot button in the glove box.
Boot opens fine using the physical key into the lock.
This started after I had the boot open to charge the battery but it might just be coincidence.
Any ideas where to start?
Much appreciated.

Clean the connectors on the glove box switch block first, then if no improvement take the boot lid liner off and do the same on the actuator. You can perform a function and continuity test on both the switch and actuator while you are in there. There is however some history of wires breaking on the boot release circuit on these cars, I believe it has usually been found in the flex at the boot opening, hope this is not the case with yours. Good luck.

Battery reset...off for 2hrs, reconnect and let sit for another 15 mins then try again.

Might we worth putting the battery on charge during the disconnect.

Just washed my QP and stupidly jammed a microfiber cloth between the upper right hand part of the boot lid and the rubber seal! I tried using the electronic release button to release the cloth (which had been working 100% upto that point) ......but nothing happened. As a result I used the key to manually unlock it and remove the cloth. However, neither the boot release in the car or on the key fob or the normal electronic release button by the number plate will release the lid. So I have to release it manually now. In addition the 'boot open' warning light comes up on the dash now and the car alarm is no longer protecting the boot. So as a result of me jamming the cloth on the right hand topside of the lid, it seems to have completely messed up the electronic opening system. Any ideas what the problem might be? I assume the boot lid has some sensors in the rubber seal somewhere which confirms when the boot is closed? Could that be damaged? Or any other sensor which is preventing the locking selonid from working?

I can't believe that I have been stupid enough to do this especially after such a fantastic day out af Mitton Hall, Clitheroe today. Any ideas???

I cant help directly, but if you are in Lancashire, I'd recommend you take it to Marios at Autoshield Maserati in South Manchester. I think it probably needs a check on the diagnostics machine (SD2/3). Otherwise you could be shooting in the dark with a 'this or that' solution that could be time-consuming and expensive.

I live in Cumbria so it's a long treck to Mario's. Ironically I drove past Bowker Maserati yesterday afternoon on my way back up North, but that was before I caused this problem. I have left a message with one of the technicians at Bowker to see if he can suggest where to start looking. Note: the battery is new and is on conditioning charge a lot of the time so I know it's nothing to do with the battery.

I am nervous about doing a battery reset because I have been advised that it can mess up the electronics on other equipment, including the alarm system. Without a main dealer fault code reader , it's a bit hit and miss.

I do it mine sometimes. The only thing you have to do is enter the radio security code. German electrics with Italian engineering. Go figure...

After reading the US based Maserati life forum today I have finally found the solution to resolving the electronic boot release issue on my 2009 QP. This doesn't require a battery reset......or a new actuator ......or a new selonoid ....or repairing the wire harness etc it's much simpler than that, and it took me less than 30 seconds to fix. I inserted the ignition key in the manual release lock on the boot lid just above the number plate. I then turned the key to manually unlock the boot lid but continued to hold it in the fully turned position while simultaneously pressing the electronic boot release button. This immediately reset the selonoid ( you can here it trigger into action) and the boot was working as normal again! Eureka!!! I can't believe it was really that simple and it saved me a 2hr round trip to the main dealer. So I am well pleased and it cost me nothing.

Nice fix. Exactly the same happened to mine, (although mine was a luggage strap).
Grimaldi tried for ages to fix it and couldn't. took it to Lancasters and they fixed it in two minutes, no charge.

Brilliant! I suspect that there are other little fixes like this elsewhere on the car which could resolve the more common electrical glitches with the car. We just don't know about them. Imagine how much time and cost these could save us all if they were more public. Its forums like this and others which really help to get the word out so that everyone can benefit.
