I have replaced the battery by taking the clock out but it still isn’t working, can someone explain what the wires going into the back of it are for please as my simple mind can’t work it out as it has nothing to do with the backlight and the battery is for the clock?

Is the battery just a back up and those wires power the clock.

The battery powered Biturbo clocks I’ve seen haven’t got any wires.

The clock in my Ghibli wasn’t working, or was intermittent. It turned out to be poor connection between the male and female connectors. Try bending the copper prongs in a little to get a tighter fit when connected and see if that helps.

The wires power it. Hence it stops if you disconnect the car battery (or if the car battery goes flat).
And why mine was misbehaving, because there wasn’t a good connection between the wiring from the back of the clock that then plugs into the loom.

Update. Managed to fix the clock.

Firstly battery connectors had become corroded and needed a clean. Done and clock moved with battery power.

Secondly, one of the ridiculously tiny wires and connectors had been broken over time so I had to source replacements which have been tough to find anything so small.

Will update this with pics later. Thanks for your help

Just for future reference - did it come straight out of the dash easily...?
