FS Cheap MX5 06 60k £2500

Passed the test today so MOTD to 19/4/18

Just had 2 new tyres on the back , no history with it and it's a CAT D , turned out I knew the guy I bought it from in cumbria , he works for a truck dealer, damage was only the front wing , he fixed it in their body shop

Genuine reason for sale, I've just bought another one same year already fitted with a BBR 200 performance kit wich I'm collecting from Aberdeen on the 14th with Mrs wack they we're having a bit of a road trip back via Inverness then down the A82

Great fun for the summer

It's currently got a plate on M33EAL which was spaced out MR BEAL

price is £2500 as is or £2200 back on the 06 plate

I think it's done about 63,000 miles but it's in my mother in laws garage at the moment

MOT history is very good

No help with the mx-5 (except to say it looks like a good deal! and would make someone a nice fun daily), but if it's a leisurely / fun drive back, I'd consider a different route ;)

From Inverness, A939 Lecht then A93 over Glenshee is one of the besrt roads in the country, though you come out around Perth, which leaves you with a lot of motorway, you can head to Edinburgh then detour through the borders.

Alternatively, if the West Coast is the way, Inverness - Applecross - Fort William then down into the Trossachs, Dukes Pass, then Glasgow and motorway.

I don't know much south of the border, but the Pennines have some nice roads and scenery.

;)

Thanks for that , more research needed I think

I'm taking it for mot in the morning so if that goes to plan it'll be available from tomorrow which is earlier than I planned

Yes, avoid the A9 like the plague. A82 a good run. Let us know when you plan to hit Inverness and we can maybe meet up and show you the south road round Loch Ness, a less used road and much better drivers road to get to fort Augustus from Inverness than the north tourist infested road.

I can see that going well, did I mention Mrs Wack is coming, you'd be stopping every 5 miles for me to catch up :D

The route is weather dependent as well, I'm not booking anything, if the weather is bad it'll be straight back and a couple of days in either Glasgow or Edinburgh

Thanks Greg

The flight lands 8:35am good Friday so I'm hoping to be on my way by 10ish, leisurely drive to Inverness , overnight somewhere then start on the route south Saturday morning

South road sounds very interesting , especially for the photographic opportunities

30 years ago before I knew him a mate went on a biking trip to the highlands , about 10 of them, they had a fantastic time , deserted open roads before the invention of the many speed trap devices we have today, great weather

They enjoyed it so much they booked same 2 weeks next year, he said it was the worst 2 weeks of his life , you wouldn't believe the sky could contain so much rain , relentless every day

To old and fat to get anywhere near the top of Ben Nevis but again I have a mate that's climbed it , he said despite the weather closing in the guy he was with wanted to carry on so they did , they got to a ridge where the wind was that strong when you lifted your head you couldn't breathe so they gave up at that point.

Sounds like a fun day out

Aberdeen to Inverness will probably be the worst bit of the drive. Where in Aberdeen are you picking up the car? The town can get very busy at certain points of the day, and can take 45 mins just to get across. 10 o clock shouldn't be too bad though. Airport area also has a lot of road works at the moment , due to the New Exhibition Centre being built, factor in a few minutes delay around this area.

It's west of the A90 on the way into the city, off countesswells road, he's picking us up from the airport so hopefully he'll know a few rat runs

That's good, if your leaving from his house, then no need to drive through Aberdeen City at all. If it was me, I'd nip over to Inverness via Dufftown and Aberlour, distillery country :) Something else to add to the journey.

Thanks for that Allan , we're not in a rush so anything to look at is good

Passed the mot

The tester passed a couple of comments , its quite crusty underneath , not rotten but like it's been parked up for a while, just needs a wire brush and some paint , front pads are OK but will need changing soon , its had new drop links and front wishbones recently

It's been in my mother in laws garage since October, the idler control valve it making the tick over a bit lumpy , as the revs drop it wavers for a couple of seconds then settles to an even tick over, he says it probably just needs driving and some fresh fuel

Listen to Allan and Greg about routes.
A96 Aberdeen to Inverness is best part of 3 hours and a slog.
A82 at Easter will be motorhomes and folk doing 30mph looking for Nessie and few overtaking spots unless you know the road really well. Urquhart Castle would be the only reason to take that road. As Greg says views on the other side are much better. Time wise probably little in it but you wont spend almost an hour looking at the tailend of a bus.

Car now advertised elsewhere

MOT tester said it's had 2 new front wishbones and drop links recently , the front brake pads will need changing soon and it must have been stood for a while as the components are quite crusty underneath, not rotten it just needs a wire brush and some dinitrol

Sold

Flew up this morning to collect its replacement , scenery is rubbish up here

That white line is the wash left by the Loch Ness monster but it went under before I could get the camera out
