Now *that* is the differences thread. I recall a (stupidly) short stop on Columbus OH (another story). Hotel had no restaurant (rooms had kitchens....) Nearest place I fancied was less than 1/2 mile. I tried to walk. Ended up back at reception where was told in no uncertain terms to get a cab......

An old colleague was stopped in between the hotel and our office a bit north of San Diego. Quite rightly on a fine Californian morning he had decided to walk. The police thought that was most suspicious, and pulled him over for a chat.
