Diamondbrite - anyone ever had this applied?

We're collecting the brand new car I've bought my wife on Tuesday. The dealer has offered a full interior and exterior Diamondbrite treatment for £150 (half price allegedly). I don't usually go for this sort of thing, but have heard all sorts about how new water-based paint doesn't protect as well as the old solvent based paints. The interior is leather and alcantara and the car will transport the family around a lot. My kids aren't too messy, but tread all sorts of general muck into the car that can't be helped. My wife is terrible at keeping the car clean (usually left to me/eastern european car cleaners) so I'm wondering if this is snake oil or something worth buying. The car has cost me over £30k and I'd like to keep it in decent condition!

Thoughts/views/experiences please, especially from our professional valeting fraternity.

Thanks

I had an new Elise and they Supaguarded it which I take it is the same sort of product..They sad you wouldn't have to wax it again.............********...............Must say if its the same as Supaguard I would save your money...........Not sure if it protected the interior or not.......I certainly wouldn't have it again...

Products like this cost a main dealer 30-50 quid.

Does have a short term positive in my experience depending on how careful the person is doing the application.

Al in all, I'd save my money and go for a proper detail which yes will cost more than £150 but from someone like D2Detail to me would be money better spent.

I had Supaguard applied on a Honda Civic that I bought some years ago. As far as I could see, it made absolutely no difference whatsoever to keeping the condition of the car's paintwork in showroom spec. Though, I assume that it must have some affect as otherwise, dealers would not be allowed to offer it at extra cost.

The Supaguard was thrown in FOC on the Honda. I am just about to buy a Fiat 500 Twin Air as a city run around. Supaguard was offered to me as a £275 option. After my prior experience with the Civic, I politely declined.

Hi. I had Diamondbrite as an aftermarket application after I bought mine. Hard to tell if it made a difference or not. Any claims that you never need to wax again are indeed BS, but the car always comes up looking good after a wash. I'll often slap some Autoglym over any areas heeding a polish or any small scratches removing, so it *should* stay looking good. Like you with two kids clambering in and out the interior (leather/alcantara) was more of a concern and it was the notion of some kind of protection there that enticed me more. So far so good is all I can say. I certainly couldn't comment on whether it's any better than anything else, I'm afraid.

The leaflet I was given is for Diamondbrite which appears to be manufactured by Jewelultra - does that make any sense?

I was selling that for 2 weeks at nissan.....

Push and they will do a better deal....get diamondbrite and alloys insurance for £100 all day long.....

Honestly? Not worth it!
The dealer i was at, and i cant name them but they would give it to a young nigerian man who sometimes would forget to do it and just gove it a good wax or apply it but not know how to apply it!

Like anything, the fitting is the most important part!

The product itself is good but not £150 good!

Does not protect bird **** no matter what they say and rain does still stick after a month or so!

Get a package consisting of alloy wheel/tyre/smart(dent removal)& diamondbrite at a good price then yes!

My Merc was coated inside and out, not sure if it protects the paint, but cleaning is much easier.

And I think thats the main point....Does it do what it says on the tin....The Supaguard didn't and it sounds the same as the stuff above...But what it did do is make it easier to clean when dirty.....The dirt came off a bit easier......But as I said above if it was me I wouldn't do it..Save the 150 and put it in the fuel tank instead....

I've been selling this kind of thing for over ten years and although it kind of does what it says as others have said its all down to who applies it.
Personally I wouldn't bother for £150 if you don't mind doing a bit of cleaning yourself spend £100 on some really good quality wax and polish and spend a Sunday afternoon cleaning waxing and polishing yourself, in my opinion you will get a better finish and a good quality wax will give the same protection as diamond brite, you will also know for sure that it has been done correctly.

If not go on EBay and there are normally a dozen salesman/valeters selling the kits they nick from work after it hasn't actually been applied!!! If you can buy the application kit for around £20/25 it's worth following the instructions and doing it properly.
Should add I do not do any of the above shananigans!! I just do not recommend it to my customers!!!!

You only have to look at how most main dealers fit number plates onto cars, on the ****, would you want to let the same person polish your car?

Don't get me wrong there are some great valeters who take real care in their work however I have probably met three in twelve years of car sales!!!!

I bought some A4 laminating sleeves from Staples last week. If I bought a pack of 250 for £50, I got a free laminator (£40 on its own). Was a good deal but then the salesman was pushing to sell insurance for the free laminator at £20!!

Ditto on diamondbrite.... wifelet gets it for a few quid on her landys. It's ok if it's cheap but wouldnt pay more than 50 for it. I'd say it lasts about a year, but then she only gets hers cleaned about once a year so difficult to tell.
