Closest thing to a new Maserati Coupe... is a Lexus

I went to the SMMT Test day this week - I’d been hoping for a shot in the press fleet GranTurismo but it was booked up solid.
I did, however, try out the Lexus LC500. Compared to a GranTurismo (disclaimer, I’ve driven a 4.2 and 4.7, but not an MC Stradale...), it feels more GranSport-y. The way the engine delivers its power, the way that it’s truly plantable, darty in the corners; it really was very impressive. The steering had that fizz about it that the GS has that the GT doesn’t quite have (imo). The ride comfort, even in Sport, was very very good.

Now this might be seen as heresy - but I came away deeply impressed. I even like the styling - in a different way to the more beautiful GranSport/GranTurismo. It appeals to the SZ/Shamal/Deltagrale design-language-appealing part of my brain instead, but other other than the Bane-like company grille the rest of the styling is interesting and exciting.

Has anyone on here tried one? What did you think?

A friend has one and it is deeply impressive. I like the styling which is always subjective but I get your thoughts and not really thought about it like that but you have a point.

Yup I have been obsessed since I first saw the first press car on YouTube. Already decided I will own a LC500 eventually.

I would have it over a 4.7 GTS... perhaps the strad is a different matter. Ideally I would.like to keep my manual 4200 and have the LC500 in the stable next to it. Better start working a bit harder then

Glad I’m not the only one....

Nice to see someone ape Maserati. Normally aspirated V8 engine in the front, 4 seats (just) in the middle, driven wheels at the rear. Pretty as well. And all for circa £80k. Just goes to show you don't have to be mad to build such a car. lets hope it does well
