Carpet freshen up

Hi Guys, I've been a member on here for 3 years and visited prior to getting my car. In all that time I've never read it discussed re-painting your carpet.
Maybe it's a secret car dealers know and keep to themselves, but I came across a fabric, carpet and vinyl spray paint at the auto parts store and thought I'd give it a go.
Especially as I'm prepping the car for the Club Concours next weekend in Sydney.
Now, my car is driven a lot and gets parked outdoors at work in the intense Australian sun, so I've noticed the black carpets fading.
Maybe you don't notice this as much in the UK.
I also had discolouration from coolant leaking from the heater matrix into the passenger footwell, soaking it. You can see the offending area in the first photo.
The removable matt was worse.
Here's the photos ( note the camera and light make the colours lighter than real life )
1. Before ( note the pile was brushed with toothbrush size wire brush to even out the pile )

2. What a difference

What a transformation to the interior for $30.00 worth of paint.
I can recommend the next time you take out the interior, to do this.
I just wish I had thought of this in July when I had the interior out to the heater change.

That looks great.

With mine always in the garage when not in use and having far less sun here I can't say I would ever need to...even my previous 25 year old Golf Cabriolets black carpets were still like new.

I have heard of this before, but never had the need. I guess the sun is a factor.

Looks great and good luck with the concourse!

I dyed my 3200 from blue to black, did a similar thing, I didn't take anything out though, did it in the car

Hi Martin, there were a range of colours available.
I remember seeing matt black, gloss black ( mine ), light grey, dark grey & others.
Just check your local auto parts store for what you have there.
I was considering a change to bright red carpets, but the fresh black has me very happy.
