There are a few places that rent campers out , if you go outside the school holidays it can be quite reasonable, try before you buy , you might hate it

I've been on one caravan holiday, in 1985, towed it all the way to the south coast , set it up then got told by my girlfriend there'd be no sex as people would see it rocking about , never went again, hotels from then on :D
Sounds like you need telescopic dampers or rigid stays if on a budget....

Our freinds had one and suggested we do same. I said no way, rather stay in lodges, posh b n b etc, - a month and take car, guess what they do now, lost £8k in a year I think, and hardly used it.

The only camping I would even consider is in one of the RV's that Robert De Niro had in Meet the Fockers.
Other than that, I'll pay for a hotel!

I’m working on recommissioning my lad’s VW T2 Devon Bay Window this weekend (at last!), need to wake it up after four years languishing in the north of the country.

View attachment 49648

It has a cooker, sink and plumbed water but not a whole lot else at the moment. Don’t think you would want to put up more than two of you in it as it is a little cramped for me.

Is that a Lister Jag in the background ?

Anyway, we (Alex) insured the VW from midnight last night and this afternoon I got it MOT’d and now it is taxed, both for the last time as in March it becomes a historic vehicle at 40 years old. Chuffed to bits it sailed through and even passed emissions!

Her indoors was more like.. how about a leisurely trip around Europe for two or three months next summer and occasionally stopping off to see friends along the way in a fairly new VW camper
Apparently she's already found some fantastic places to visit in Croatia, only about five days drive from Trieste!

Yes Phil, seems to be the general consensus from all that look it over, Zep was impressed with the fact it still has a belly pan in place.

I was at the VW show in Tatton Park yesterday and the air cooled camper prices are going through the roof now..........Certainly a great investment!!
