California vs GTS

Me too. I think the Stradale is a rare and special thing and the Cali T is almost mass produced by comparison.

The lack of love for the original Cali is odd here as it’s clearly a Maserati design that was stolen by the boss (when they had the keys), rebadged and made less elegant. It evolved away from that but really, the original car wears the wrong badge.

They’ve done it with the Roma too, which is an Alfieri. Probably why I like it so much!

No idea if it is true, but I was informed that the Cali was a Maserati commission but then Fiat or Alfa realised they would not make the investment back so gave it to Ferrari to develop as one of their own.

I don’t get the love for the California. The original convertibles weren’t as pretty as the other 250 series cars. The modern rehash has a hideous mealy mouthed front end with a cross eyed vibe and stupid stacked exhausts and a fat ****. The T is an unresolved version of the Portofino, which also has a marginally better name.

Convertible 3500GT Tipo 101/C and a Strad would be a more elegant duo.

My GC was parked next to a Cali when I went to collect it from service yesterday. Both black with ivory interior so a comparison was almost mandatory

can’t talk of driving, but just on looks and quality of interior materials and finish, the GC just looked so much better proportioned and classier. Biased I know, but if I’d have been offered to swap keys it would have been politely declined.
