Boys and toys......

Pulled the trigger on a medium priced drone as first crack at these boys toys and have to say I love it! Went for a hubsan 501s x4 and for a little over £160 ( another £13 for 2 spare batteries, you only get 15-20 mins per battery) you get gps, return home, follow me and 1080 video........which of course I cannot put up because the fruit based product predictably will not recognise the card (no surprise there then, useless piece of **** that it is, yes I still hate apple!)
Looking good tomorrow so we will go a run in Fiona's boxster to loch maree and get some nice video from 500m up of the windy road and loch.........of course, I'll not be able to show it to you all until I accidentally drop the apple product and use the insurance to buy a "proper" computer!
Anyone else got a drone? Any tips?

I bought a small cheap one (too cheap) to inspect my roof for damage and avoid paying for 4 stories of scaffolding up the side of my old Victorian gaff.
It was a little windy - more so at 4 stories up aparently
Now when I do put scaffolding up they can retrieve my drone from where it lies tits up in the gully between roofs. :-(

And this is (one of) the reason I love SportsMaserati. Genuinely Mrs C and I are wiping tears away!

Strangely, and much to my disgust, my wife had the exact same reaction. She just couldn't see how gutted I was. Stiff upper lip and all that.
Although my drone was out of sight and as they say time is a great healer the control unit sits in my office as a constant reminder.
Sometimes I switch it on just in case.
The chaps on the Beagle 2 Mars mission would understand.

Well robin, I take your tale of woe about flying near the roof seriously since I did put it up today to look at the flat roof over the dining room extension and found a healthy roof and two seagull chicks, which then meant the adults started dive bombing the drone which obviously looks like a peregrine falcon to them!. Queue back peddling at full speed and hastily pressing return home button before they could get to it. Lol much fun now, but not at the time......still loving the new toy!
