Good evening,

Joined this forum for some advice and conviction to buy a Maserati.I am currently looking at 3 Quattroporte's all on or around an 07 plate with less than 45 k miles. I have a budget of up to £25k to spend and would like to know what package I should expect for that sort of cash. Also any advice on where do I look for the best choice outside Autotrader. Many Thanks Justin

You'll do good to get a 2007-08 Sport GT with the zf gear box and between 40-55k miles.

Cars with a full service history normally command a slightly higher premium and inspire some confidence too. It is worth noting that in and around the above mileage some parts may need replacing such as Variators, suspension and brake discs/pads. Yet most will depend on usage.

Richard grace has one in at rhe moment but the mileage is higher than you want. Its worth giving him a call as he may well know of others coming on the market and is well regarded on the forum.

Thanks for the mention as always gentleman. I've sold two lovely QP's last week and am always looking for good ones. I've nothing imminent other than the one I have on my site. Re the OP, Pistonheads, Car & Classic and Ebay should find pretty much all possible cars.

Many thanks guys for all the pointers. The conviction question has been answered! Off to see an 07 plate GT sport, 33k, full dealer service history (next one due at 47K) ZF gearbox with the full package of extras. One extra question if I may. I have read up on the transmission issues with Duo Select and reliability. Am I correct in thinking that clutch issues are only apparent with this transmission as was the case with an M5 BMW I recently owned? Many thanks again.

Not aware of transmission issues with the Duo Select.......The only issue you get is that the clutch replacememnt costs anything from £2500 - £4000 to replace depending on what needs doing. You do not get this in the ZF gearbox. Clutches in the DS can need changing from 35kish up depending on how you drive it. Some on here have got over 50k before the clutch needs changing.......The DS is reliable its just the cost to change the clutch.

Just ensure the gearbox oil is changed regularly.
