That Lovely AA man turned up on time , straight on with the diag and confirmed pot number six was the issue , then started the head scratching and a series of torches appeared out of his van , could believe he would try and disassemble it in the dark , after removing the engine cover more head scratching and I wouldnt be surprised a bit of synchronised arss twitching going on as well , Oooh they fitted rather a lot in their didnt they ....sort of made me chuckle , we both looked at each other knowing full well he was beaten and a tad out of his depth , Where s your nearest garage came the words i wanted to hear ................basically they picking her up this morning and taking it to a man that can , and they will pay the bill up to the value of £500 , Thought I was actually doing them a favour by refusing the automatic hire car which is part of the deal lol

You say it didn’t like being left unused for a few months and I think that goes for anything a bit complex.

I’m sure this is probably teaching Granny to suck eggs as the saying goes, but I’ve learned from bitter £ experience with my GT40, Maserati, Aston, Porsche and Bentley amongst others that two of the best preventative measures are a CTek or similar to keep all the voltage hungry electrics happy when not in use and a Carcoon or dehumidifier to keep damp at bay.

These 2 measures alone seem to singnificamtly reduce the appearance of the dreaded CEL after winter storage. I put as many as I can on lifts or axle stands too, to take the weight off the suspension and tyres and keep them out of reach of any rodents who seem to like to eat wiring and make nests out of it. I always use fuel stabiliser even when filled with supposedly ethanol free Esso 98 and with the carb engined cars, I run the engine with fuel pumps off to dry out the carbs to reduce any ethanol impact.

Not saying all the above prevents all storage issues, but does certainty reduce them in my experience.

Whole heartedly agree , only in this case the car was only laid up ten days or so in a centrally heated garage ,I have the Ctek but it wasnt on as it was only going to be left a short while and the car had had two brand new OEM batteries a week after i purchased it in August ..... thats really why I was so miffed ,

Sometimes being lucky as well as smart, can be a life saver. Something I know, only too well. Kudos ;)
Not sure where that leaves me, in the lucky stakes last raffle i won was in 1983 a bottle of wine I was unable to collect and was given to someone else , in the smart stakes clothes never seemed to fit me like the models in the Grattan catalogues ;)

Well, the only raffle I ever won, was when I was at primary school. It was at the village summer fair, where we used to holiday, most of every summer. I won a bottle of Black Bush, Bushmills whiskey in a fancy presentation box. I was relieved of it, when I showed it to my father and never saw it again. Its funny what you still remember, fiftyish years later.
Years later, when I really needed it. I developed a rep for being extremely lucky.

Probably like me one of the reasons people like us shouldnt visit casino,s ..........another painful memory ,again back in the early 70,s on returning back from the Yemen just days before xmas I was given a rather expensive bottle of vintage port by an Arab who owned the company,, similar in an exquisite presentation case ......rumours abound in the office said bottles cost a £1000 a case of 6 so i was truly chuffed and vowed only to open it on the day of my first born .......................which came some 17 years later, So miffed was I to get home on the day of the birth to see all my in laws sitting in my lounge with said bottle on the table empty , having left me with around half an inch in the bottom totally full of sediment :frusty6:

Its tales like that, that can make me understand and be more sympathetic towards beheading. The fact that you kept it seventeen years and it was your first born, would I think, be looked upon by a judge as justifying homicide. Therein lies the problem with marriage. Not only are you tying yourself to a person, who at some point in time, you presumably felt some affection for.
But, you are also tying yourself to whatever knuckle dragging offspring were produced by her entire extended family.
Casinos do nothing for me. If I wanted to throw money away at a rate faster than they can print it, I'd buy a Maserati.
Oh wait!:suicide:

On the case to day chasing up a few bits , AA claim for the Bentleys tantrum , turns out AA does not include Spark Plugs in the parts warranty :frusty6: diagnostic and coil pack and labour covered but not the plugs ............take note when getting your garage to prepare the invoice
