Owned 2 SEC Mercs in my time. They are rubbish but charming. I have no idea how they have the reputation that they do. All this "from the days when Mercs where made from granite" nonsense. They rust, lack power, have wallowing suspension and poor reliability. I love them !

I had a concours 420 SEC which I adored but the wife thought it was horrible. Sold it for £12k about 6 years ago and saw it for sale for £16k recently. Another I should have kept !

Them 8.32 & QP IV are my two favourite sleepers, proper V8 Italian power hidden in a non descript 4 door saloon

Out of that lot on the list I think it'd be the QP for me. Never had a merc but drove a few 500 sec back in the 80's. Never really "got" them, but I liked cars that handled better back then.

All of the above have their frailties, but if on song and well maintained they can still reward, horses for course that lot...

the QP is probably one of the most undervalued cars out there just now, does anyone else get an itch when you see them at these prices!

I have one that will probably be for sale in the new year and it's the full fat 3.2 V8 with manual box with just under 90k, probably only £4.5k worth
