I'm dealing with the sticky plastics in my 3200 and when I was going to install the ashtray I noticed it doesn't fully cover the hole in the console.
It's also apparently sunk into the console.
It's been a long time since I removed the ashtray and I don't remember what it's supposed to look

Does it sound about right?
Can someone post pictures of your 3200 ashtray?

For reference, this is what I’m looking at and it doesn’t look right to me.
It’s not yet screwed in

I think some of the leather has come unstuck slightly. They do sit down in the panel

Sorry for the quality, this is my rubbish phone, and the car is in the garage with only strip lights. but two things. Its not a great fit really and with the lid open there are gaps and you can see down past it. The side nearest the tray on my car clearly does not line up really, although the edge where the little raised section is looks quite good when shut, so either the hole in the leather/console is not square or the ash tray is not the right shape! I never looked at it this closely before and sadly cannot now unsee this.

Thanks, it looks like mine as well. Low and with a slight gap.
Typical Italian fit and finish

I'll have to check mine now. I know it's one of the stickiest parts though, I end up black if I touch it!

Mine was the glovebox handle. So bad I had to instruct passengers not to touch it and to be careful with their legs. Just touching it lightly would transfer black goo onto the fingers. On the plus side, when they are that bad it just takes one pass of alcohol to remove most of it off
