Hi all,

Been a while been way to busy enjoying the GT Sport, car is currently up for sale and this morning a f'in pigeon decided to take a trip through my grill at 70mph!

The grill is toast and the metal mesh was dislodged, but the radiator doesn't look affected and no warning lights. Some pics of the damage, below.

Few questions, where can i source a decently priced front grill, and do you think i'd be able to mount the mesh to save buying a Air Conveyor? Model is GranTurismo Sport 2013 4.7 MC Shift

Any help guys would be appreciated, don't really want to trouble the insurance company if i can help it as the car is for sale and im only 1 month into a new year so if i claim i'll have to pay for the year and the excess, although at the moment i can't sell the car!

Gonna try and fit it myself hopefully with some help from you guys i'm quite technically minded so want to try and avoid the garage if possible.

Regards

BirdMan! :(

Before you get the grill fixed, come and drive around my house for a couple of hours to kill some more of the vermin
good luck

grill is easy, swaps while the bumper is on.
air conveyor needs the bumper off IIRC.

if the plastic on the conveyor isn't toast, you might be able to just pull its metal grill into place. worth a quick try, especially if you just plan to sell it anyway.

as for parts, eBay is where I've gotten mine. roughly about $5-600 for the grill and $2-300 for the conveyor (in the US)

Really helpful, someone said about the bolts and i was like i can't see any lol! My sensors are in the bumper so hopefully of the conveyor is fixable from the front this should be a simple job!

Nah. Spatchcocked  I do like the phrase 'this should be a simple job' - it is a Maserati after all:clap:

70 you say? That is quite a hit, never seen a pigeon do that much damage, they usually just explode!

I'd say it (the grille and mesh) is all salvageable, looks like both the fins are inside there, some careful use of plastic welding and just let the new owner be aware of the repair and a few quid off for it, let them decide if they want to replace with used or new.

I hit a (admittedly smaller) bird at 70++ on the Le Mans trip, closer inspection has revealed a bit of a dent in the mesh grille on my GS but thankfully it held in place. It would be nice if the wildlife knew to get out of the way a bit quicker!

Reminds me of when I hit a fox in my old GTS, I could see its legs scrabbling over the top of the nose cone.

Engage brake...fox flop out on the road, engage 2nd gear.............fecker!

I bought the cheapest new grill, they are different prices you see by model, then took it apart, swapped my chrome outer over on to it and painted it the correct satin black that it should have been as it was gunmetal from memory.

About £275 from memory.
