Does look at little lower at the back, could be because of the way it is parked...
Light is also playing tricks I think, look at pic 1...

Froddy's car. Another blast from the past. Sure he will provide details/history, but this car has either been on her or MF so is known. IIRC it had Kahn wheels which Lewis/Marcos bout for his 4200.

No offence to anyone with a silver GS, i love them anyway but it seems silver ones are always the cheaper ones, from what i know silver was not the most common colour

Yep, parked on a kerb, plus, front bumper repainted? Looks a beauty.

Andy

Front bumpers on GSs often look a different shade - I believe (and may stand corrected) this is beacuse the front bumper is plastic so the paint sits differentely to that on the surrounding metal bodywork.

Chaps!

All good things come to an end and, after 3 years of glorious motoring and 34,000 miles together, my GS and I are to part. You're right about the pictures: they do make the rear look a little low. I live on a steep hill and, if the weather improves today, I'll re-photograph her.

The nose has not been re-sprayed and, you're right Dicky, the car has been lovingly cared for by Autoshield during my ownership. I'm told by Marios that this is a good car and it won't be easy to say goodbye.

I've test driven a QP Sport GT and a GT and have decided to buy a GT. I have to say that neither comes close to the GS as a driving experience and, if I had the space, I'd keep her for the weekend.

The best offer I've had from a dealer (so far) is not attractive so I won't be selling her into the trade if I can avoid it. There's no finance outstanding so I should be able to hold out for a while.

Fingers crossed!

Good luck! A well looked-after GS will command a decent price. There are so few on the market. I always get mine detailed and make sure they are mechanically perfect, and they hardly depreciate.

Would love to hear your report on the differences between the GS and the QP/GT in terms of driving experience. I've been so close a number of times to swapping from a GS to something newer, but I find it hard to part with the GS experience.

Although it's probably not fair to compare a cooking GT with a (red-striped) QP Sport GT, I really felt the QP had the edge on the fun factor. The steering wheel felt smaller and the steering more direct. Although the QP is a huge car, it actually felt like a 2 seater to drive. The ride was far better than I expected, too. I was struck by the quality of the interior and (sadly) by how quiet it is with the windows up (!)

The GT is also huge and, when I parked the GS and the GT side by side, the size difference was stark. Despite the size of the car, the cabin felt quite small. I think this is because the dashboard is so high and the interior was black. The steering was not as direct, and it just didn't SEEM as sporty as the QP, although I drove the cars 7 days apart.

Both cars had the ZF box and this is where the fun factor is lost when compared with the GS. Although you can change gear with the paddles, the car doesn't give complete control and will shift even if you don't want it to. It was quieter in the cabin than a GS, too.

Having driven all three, there's no doubt at all that the GS is the sportiest and most fun of all. And to my mind, still a lovely looking car. It's not without its flaws, of course, but I will miss those sport mode downshifts.

Each car offers something different. The GS is meant to be a racer; the GT isn't. The GT is more refined, has more toys, and is not a bone shaker. The QP is all about performance in luxury. They're all amazing in their own right.

I can well understand the constant itch that comes with wondering whether to 'progress' to a newer model; I'm about to scratch mine and hope I'm doing the right thing. I don't think I'll regret it once I get used to living with an automatic and the different driving style. The trouble is that, no matter what I buy, the grass will always be greener elsewhere and, no doubt, I'll soon be trawling the net dreaming about "the next one" that I can't yet afford!

You're right not to compare the GT to the GS as they are totally different cars..............Interesting that the QP felt sportier to the GT......Must say the QP GT I drove handled like a car half its size.......Look forward to hearing what you end up with..

I think the QP is a very well-balanced car. I remember seeing Clarkson throwing it about, and it looked serene even when tail-sliding!

The 4.7 auto QPs and GTs do allow full manual control of the gears. It's only the 4.2 engine models which do not.

Hi Andy,

OM? I don't know what that means. As far as I'm aware it's the original exhaust ...
