Alarm going off in the rain

Not had the car for very long, so it hasn't seen much rain due to the rare British Summer weather we are being treated to. On 2 occasions now when there has been heavy rain the alarm has gone off. No sign of any leak anywhere, wondering if the alarm is just a bit sensitive and caused by the rain running over the glass? Anyone else had this problem or got any good tips to try and avoid annoying the neighbors too much

Not normal for if rain, but my alarm goes off if I leave a phone in the car (iPhone)

Check behind boot carpets for wet as siren is on LHS there, not sure about location alarm ‘brain’ though,
But must be close by.

The wiring loom from body to boot is a possible water leak spot

The sensors in the A pillar often are the cause.

You can change the sensor range and I am sure there is an old post on here.

Mine has gone off when I have jet washed it, and if I remember right specifically when it hit windows...

Mine goes off in the rain and if the spiders are active in the pillars! I intend to disconnect the A-pillar sensors as this resolves it.

Hold the arm button down until the alarm beeps twice, that disables the internal sensors and the alarm will be fine in the rain.

Cheers,

Simon

Thanks Simon, that sounds exactly what I needed. This forum has been a huge help, made removing the door trim and upgrading the speakers a much easier job this weekend. How did people manage to find these things out before the internet!

There were lots of clever buggers out there well before the internet ever existed..

Do you remember books, the sort of thing you read in a library!

You could all come to live in a much better climate where it hardly ever rains. Australia is still in a long term drought which is great for outdoor sports & top-down motoring. I believe the Poms can be transported to OZ if they can manage to be convicted of stealing a handkerchief ? Ask the nice magistrate if you can take your car as well.
It's a great place for drowning your sorrows now that the world knows you are shite at football ! Cheers.

Books, what are they Dave?
That was fine for big things, but these forums are packed with so much help on little tweaks/tips that would never have been published before. I bet loads of people made the same mistakes over and over, then when they found the solution had no easy way to help the next person who encounters the problem.

This

Remove curtain trip (pops off) undo hidden screw, A pillar then pops off.

Unplug the matchbox sized box on both sides and pack the cables away so they don’t rattle.
