My biggest problem is not the limits, but the way you are positively incentivised to admit guilt with no evidence.

Simply on the accusation of breaking the limit, you're told 'If you don't pay up, we'll take you to court and you'll get a much bigger fine and points, and no we're not showing you any evidence, so what you have to ask yourself is 'Am I feeling lucky''....

Now to be fair I've had my share of tickets. Where I've been sent a photo, it's clearly me, no contest, pay up take the points. In my previous one there's no way I could learn from what I did, because they simply would not show me the photo without going to court (thereby guaranteeing a fine and points vs an awareness course) So I took the course.
This time I'm not even sure it's me. It might well be, but if I want to see the evidence, I have to go to court which means I'll probably get hammered more than whatever conditional offer they give me.

So right now I've said 'It's me' and waiting for the offer. If it's cheap, I'll pay and hope karma pays out. If it's not, I'll possibly chance the court.

We shall see

100% agree. Comes down to that word trust again. We have to trust that the camera was right, the speed was right, it was processed correctly, that they are keeping our details/data safe. Just another way to prove it is not done for safety reasons as the information is not given to allow you to learn from it.

I have no idea if that camera was accurate or not. I don't think I would have been doing 64mph at that point as was only doing max 64mph prior to easing off the gas when I saw the speed change sign. As you say do I take a chance and go to court? No....even if it was not 100% accurate it was likely I was doing well over 50mph as I was driving as if it was 60mph.

The woman on the phone said I will be sent an offer for a SAC or endorsement/fine. I said I don't need a SAC really. I need an awareness of the systems/signage in place more than an awareness of the speed. There is a difference. She agreed 100% but there is nothing that can be done about it. It is irrelevant.

Just like most of the world these days, not clear concise, transparent or honest. Always seems to be some complexity, spurious activity, skulduggery or anything that is straight forward or easy. Why make it simple and easy when we can make it spurious and complex to generate higher revenues.

Everyone bitches and moans about getting caught speeding...Other countries have to live with lower limits than ours, I can promise you...
I always have points, get busted regularly and have lost my licence to it..!
Either fight it, or dont...you are free to chose !

It seems patently plain that alot of road traffic restrictions are designed as "traffic control" and have little or nothing to do with safety. The road traffic signage is so poor at times I wonder if the idiots designing it even drive frankly ! People seem to think it's a tax...Have you actually ever wondered where your fines go..? To the profit ledgers of non govt businesses...!
All that said, I think you have to decide whether you believe in speed limits.. I do. And because of that, I accept that they need to be policed...or it simply is pointless having them. There are literally thousands of people behind the wheel with +20 points on their licence, and many times more who drive like idiots...
