I'm not tense mate :) Just had a long paper-round...

I'm sitting on the bedroom balcony, firing Nerf gun rounds at the neighbour's little boy. It's very therapeutic :)

I might point out - he's firing back... With a gun I bought him - it's not totally one-sided!

I think there are probably laws against an English chap of some years one-sidedly firing projectiles at a 6 year old French boy. I do retain the higher ground though, and many years of experience. Many years, as you thoughtfully pointed out :)

I was simply ensuring that all data were being considered, as is one of my strengths. And if I may say
1) If there are such laws, the law is an *** ;)
2) Throw rocks from orbit ;) </oblique reference>

Enjoy. Tonight I shall mostly be enjoying escargots followed by some steak and beans, accompanied by what promises, again, to be a rather fine 2007 Chinon.

Life's not so bad.

Escargots eh? How very cosmopolitan of you! The Chinese places here all do frogs legs in tempura batter, alongside the more typical prawns. It's all educational, innit?

I *love* them, both :)

This Chinon is bloody good, but needs drinking. How sad, there's another bottle left.

Where did the sissor jack come from and which model please...I need one to get the wheels off for cleaning etc.

Cheers Peter.

Sorry Peter on holiday at the moment but for home use a trolley jack is the way forward. You only need to use a scissor jack in an emergency, far too much hard work!

I also paid ten bob and a conker for a scissor jack and it fits up in the top left cavity with the first aid kit to stop it falling out. I will probably bring a fair amount of tools as this will be the longest journey I have ever attempted in the 6 years i have had the car, and its track record is not good. I have a wheel spanner with 4 sizes, a space saver spare, jack, compressor, plenty of fuses (2 boxes) a bag of relays. I have a semi-useless Maserati tool box, but will bring sockets, screw drivers, misc tools. I also will have some coolant, and Selenia engine oil, and possible a little brake fluid. Of course all of this is only useful if i make it to Dover from Aberdeen!!! I am certain the car is finally good enough to do this journey. However the guys at work have got me to set up my phone so they can track my location, thinking they will map out a series of breakdowns! I will show em! nearer the event i will post the tracking thing so every one can track our progress.

I would be careful with a scissor jack guys as not the best to support an expensive car.
Could do some nasty damage if it goes wrong..
Better off spending more getting a light weight trolley jack.
Just my thoughts though after seeing the damage a mate of mine did trying to get a wheel of his Bentley GT.
Phil.

You are right Phil, scissor jacks are not the most stable.
Always thought those exhaust 'air' bags were a good idea for side of road/soft verge tyre changes.

If you get a suitably solid scissors jack and are careful they are ok, its only for emergencies after all. A trolley jack takes up so much room! i may take my bottle jack too now you mention it :)

The reason i bought the bottle jack from Toolstation is it is so compact. Starts at 158mm high so i figured even with a flat it'll go under...wont know till it happens i guess.

The bottle jack sounds good, I'm all for compact tools. I used a Bluepoint (Snap-on) Racing Jack the other day at work and they are the dogs danglies of jacks. Super quick and super safe...just saying. :p
