As far as I can recall it was the whole deal, problem I had was the timescale between thinking about it and going on the SM Spanish jaunt. Have not got around to it since.

Will give them a try - can imagine losing/breaking the working one at some point, probably at some really annoying, most disruptive time too!

You don't need the card or the code. You need to send Maserati / supplier copies of the V5 and proof of address, then they send you a key (with the code). Then you get a suitably equipped person to code the car to accept the keu.

Looks like I’m going to be doing this if I want a second key. Any suggestions on suitable place to actually do the key cutting and coding to the car? How much will Maserati (or another supplier) charge to supply the basic key?

Key has to come from Maserati via a dealer. The coding can be done by anyone with the right gear (i.e. a good independent or dealer) I last bought one about 4 years back and it was (IIRC £280 + coding)

Just spoken to my local Maserati dealer about this. Costs as follows:

- New key code card (required to order key) = £24+VAT and requires you to send through scan of V5 and Driving Licence
- New 2-button remote key = £220+VAT
- Re-coding to the car = £150+VAT

So, that's a £472.80 investment + fuel there and back!

You are aware you can get Timpsons on the High Street to clone your other key for about £50?

Ok, you wont get the same shell but its quick and simple to have done.

...actually, you may get the same shell but in black as the fob is only a Fiat Punto key. Buy a salvage key and swap the innards over, job done.

Soprano Stu / Tridant Spares will have a bucket full of old ones.

Presumably you just get a key that opens the door i.e. it won't turn the alarm on/off in the event that you lose the 'primary' key.

Will it still deactivate the immobiliser when the key is placed in the ignition barrel and allow you to start the car, or is that done at the alarm de-activation stage?

Yes, if you have one key, Timpsons can clone the transponder immobiliser chip. Not sure about the remote opening, you may have to use the key, but its a cheap spare none the less.

Seem to remember its £90 from Timpsons if you want the remote unlock programmed too.

That's great to know, thanks. I'll look into this with my local Timpsons!!

Have you done this Matt? I was under the impression that the 4200 keys were note cloneable in that way. Bee quite good if they are.

Spoken to my local Timpsons this morning. They can’t clone the key fob or provide a new key element for the 4200 (they rang through to the Head Office to check), so it’s dealer only!!

Yes for 3200 and 156, GTV and a Fiat 500 and the Fiat 500x is beng fine tomorrow so why should the 4200 be any different?

We have to go to the Port Solent branch for the Fiat 500x as they have the later machine that can do RD46 chipset.

Alternatively Mike Roberts can order and program the keys much cheaper.

Collected the car today and so far very pleased with it! As an added bonus, the original key code card slipped out of the service history book when I was filing all of the paperwork. A small saving at least!!

Had a new 2-button key fob supplied and coded to my 4200 by a main dealer today and with a labour rather than fixed price charge, it came to a “reasonable” £354 all in. Well, at least I have another working key now!!

Rubber insert part number is M980001814 £2.49 from H.R.Owen for 4200 Mas two button.

As a 4200 Mas owner my circuit board in my one and only key fob died which controls the central locking and alarm.the circuit board part number S 4633 Two button and I could not switch the alarm off which gave me a head ache.

As most 4200 are fitted with the Meta M826 alarm system I had the the alarm ECU and my dead circuit board sent to Abacus car alarms in London they re coded the ECU and two and two separate key fobs and let me have their last Maserati S4633 circuit board for my mas key at a good price.
I now have a fully working Maserati key and two spare fobs programmed so my problem will not happen again
They did tell me I was very lucky in obtaining the above board because Maserati has put the blockers on these boards being sold separate I wonder why could it be the kit will cost £1.400 plus vat. ouch..
The lads at Abacus can do everything else but supply the above circuit board S4633 cos I pinched the last one..
I am now on the hunt for a compatible spare key..checking out China,

Here’s original keys with Chinese copy, well, shells, innards are originals. Blade was cut in Northside Shopping Centre, Dublin, I went everywhere to cut it and they either refused or tried and ruined the blank.
