4200 Cambiocorsa - dilemma

Hello Everyone,

New member. Looking to join the maserati owners club.

Have seen this car http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271484204551?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

Had great history up until 2009 mainly with Marinello - who are quite close to where I live and confirmed as much.

It then had 1 service with Gallido in 2010, and then nothing up until this year. Although the mileage was low during this period, I would've imagined it needed some degree of maintenance. What adds to the worry is that Emblem Sports cars in poole did just an oil change service, and the bill is just for £150 odd. Would've thought it would be due a much more major service? Tried calling them to ask whether there was anything they would advise but they said they couldn't give me that information. Said they wouldn't even give me that information if I owned the car, as their contract is with the guy who had it serviced with them! Bizarre. Any tips as to what I should be looking for in paperwork and the actual car?

Sorry, if I', asking questions that have been answered umpteen times before. Tried doing a search but couldn't find much. If somebody can point me in right direction would be most grateful.

Thanks Guys. Great website - hopefully be a more active member soon.

Go see it...after verifying the seller has ALL.....the paperwork....books, service manual and loads of other invoices first

Quiz him on phone........then ask him if ever damaged and would mind it having an indie inspection

It's £9k, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Retail on the car is £16k or so. It may be a genuine bargain but buyer beware.

No history for over 3 years and 12000 miles in that time and then an oil change?
Sorry got ringing in my ears just now....oh that will be the alarm bells!
Ask lots of questions, inspect yourself , look at paperwork and if you are still keen an inspection is a must.
You are going to have to spend money to get that history repaired even if it is a good one. But it won't be or as Richard says it wouldn't be advertised at that price.

Car has been for sale for over two years...I know as since 2011 I have been watching the 4200 market closely.

The owner has clearly just had the minimum done in the hope some poor sap will think its a bargain. Emblem are one of the best in the UK, so hence why punters may think the car is OK.

That stupid thing on the roof would be enough to put me off.

68k service at Emblem was £1250 for me

360 a great car on your own or with a driving buddy but in the real world for a working man it really is like keeping a mistress and her family.
Glad to have been able to play with Ferrari's but I'm a Maserati Man.
