For sale: a front lower right control arm (part number 201784) that has been rebuilt by VPS.
I’m located in The Netherlands but could ship anywhere.

Price: €950 excluding shipping

Hi Erik 4200CC.
That seems very expensive given that on the VPS website, they offer the complete set of 8 pieces refurbished for €2200.

Hi Tim,

That’s for the rebuild service, where you need to send in your own control arm first. If your old control arm can’t be rebuilt or if you just can’t wait for your part to travel back and forth, you could buy my control arm instead. I’m offering a part, not a service.

Regards,
Erik

Interesting proposition..
I wonder does the VPS warranty of 3 years come with the part you are reselling?
Further, I wonder where VPS stand with respect the potential for arms to crack after the bushes have been replaced ? Potentially, this might be caused by the work, appearing within a generous 3 yr warranty...Perhaps I need to email VPS.

looks like only the VPS parts covered by the 3 years to me
It would seem logical.
I wonder what makes an arm irreparable, apart from it being cracked…
questions for another space-time dimension. Sorry to derail the thread OP.

If you add Vat, convert to Euro plus some shipping then the Eurospares one is a bit expensive, but i do get your point! Also a pattern part I believe.

Those VPS ones should be as good as new.

get what you saying but the issue with the 32 arms is they would be as well made of tinfoil, slightest bump from a pot hole and new bushes or not, they will crack or fail.

Plenty of arms have had their bushes replaced without issue. I personally replaced my bushes and drove for 15000 miles without issue, including through Rome and Naples (there were plenty of pot holes).

But a few issues are noted and now they are made of tinfoil. We don’t help ourselves when it comes to this sort of thing.

Agree completely.
Not experienced a wishbone crack myself (9 years ownership) or heard about any for a while.
Fitted new bushes on one front upper without issues as well.
We do talk these cars down at times, no wonder you can’t give them away.

I’ve had about 200 of the 3200, 4200 and GS generation and only once ever had a cracked arm, and every single one of those cars went through an inspection. It is a minor issue blown hugely out of proportion.

Exactly like in the Porsche World with the IMS bearing for starters.
