If it takes 3 hrs what needs removed to get into the sensor?
If the needle dances all over the place its definitely a sensor failure. You should also check the wiring, it runs round the engine bay and over time goes brittle with the heat.

You can do it yourself but half way through you will be swearing and chucking tools around. If I were you I would give it to someone who knows how to do it. Its about 3hrs for them to do it, it will be an all day job if you do it.

If you have actual oil pressure issues, the gauge will gradually float down and up with the revs of the engine.

If the oil pressure drops when you press the clutch, then you have enfloat issues and you really dont want to go there.

On the 3200 you MUST use 10w60 oil, otherwise it will get too thin with the heat of the turbo's and the pressure will drop..!!
The oil sensor is located in the centre of the engine at the back near the bulkhead. You can just see it sat on the back ledge of the engine if you get your head right over the back, a round unit with wires coming out. It is not an easy job to replace, very little space to work and a risk of breaking another sensor close to it..!!
Always check the oil cold with engine off on a 3200..!!

I have attached photo of oil sensor below - its the white item

I believe the conventional way to replace the sensor is to take tension off auxillary belt (pin in the tension pulley) and then remove belt. Then slaken off bolts securing A/C compressor and lever out of the way (with A/C pipes still connected)and you should then have sufficient room to remove connector off back of sensor and then get a spanner onto base of oil pressure sensor. I found that i needed to make jaws on my 19mm spanner thinner (max 5mm thick) to get between base of sensor and block (achieved by sacrificing an old spanner and attacking it with a bench grinder). By making spanner thinner allowed you to get sufficient room alongside oil filter without having to remove it.(Spanner length approx 180mm).

In my case however I adopted an alternative solution. My radiator was being recored so it was out of the car and I was able to replace the sensor without having to drop the A/C compressor.

Good luck
