went for a trip from southend to dover, and my top rad hose burst 2 roads away from my home once back in southend (lucky!)

i need a used top rad hose (top of rad to thermostat housing) euro spares is £35 but im reluctant to spend this as it will only be used until i find a radiator (im going to order a new hose set once the new rad i buy is fitted)

also, im looking for a perfect used, nearly new or cheap? new radiator.

my top pipe is damaged so i dont want to put a new hose on as this may damage the new hose.

asap on the hose if possible, i have a pipe joiner with 2 odd pieces of pipe with 6 jubilee clips for now!

Davis Askew will sort you out, drop him a PM.

I must say though, I would just buy new. Speak to Alan at Dick Lovett parts in Swindon. He will give you a bit of discount too. Cooling, like braking, should never buy used parts IMHO.

New is best - bought a second hand one from one of the scrappies (Douglas Valley, from memory), although it was bubble wrapped to death it had a dent in it, so sent it back.
Alan sorted me out new one at a good price - had to wait for it to come from Italy and when it didi - it had a dent in it! third one finally arrived from Dick Lovetts, pristine in a wooden box - which I still have for keeping muddy wellies in.
Fitting is a nause though - lots of unbolting and another inch clearance would make life much easier.

was it your damaged top pipe that burst the hose? If so, how was it damaged? If not, you should find out why the hose burst otherwise it'll happen again... it suggests massive overheating or very bad flow. It really should not do that and doesn't seem to be a common fault

Good point - I had a faulty resistor (c £40 - Eurospares) caused over heating and massive pressure build up at idle only - the fans where not coming on early enough as they are two stage.
I burst a turbo cooling pipe - the bottom one luckily, major headache to get at, the top one is half an engine strip out.!

Rads are a tricky one, you can get them recored but due to the twin matrix nature, its not really much of a saving, so you might as well just buy new.

If you do get it recored, get them to strengthen the top and bottom hose flanges as they crack...is this where your rad is leaking?

my rad top pipe is squashed, now oval shaped and kinked, if i can straighten it out it with a new hose it would be ok
