Chaps,
wondering if anyone else has head the above dash warning CEL appear for short time then vanish? It is a transmission "electronic system" malfunction apparently. I suspect it was due to a long steep down hill run with just feathering the throttle.............system may have been confused by pedal pressure ie not accelerating or rolling but rather coasting! Any other's experienced this in an auto? Cheers

Sadly I can report having seen this error and no I cannot remember how I got rid of it or what caused it. It did not persist. I normally opt for a filter and oil replacement when I get any gearbox related errors. The only other things on my auto box that have been troublesome is the starting in Park, it does not detect the park position always (and so won't start), despite replacing and adjusting the main selector electrical switch on the side of the gearbox, and the little contact switch down under the gear lever. I suspect if it does not appear again don't worry about it!

Davy, well I can say that during a short drive yesterday the following happened...............accelerated up to 120kph, rolled off throttle, without warning sharply changed down a gear with "RCY" warning appearing on dash. Warning cleared itself after short time, also note that when "Sport" mode selected "error" with "RCY" appears on dash. Probably only done 25k Km since trans last serviced but is due for another but appears an "Electronic" related error rather than mechanical.

Do we have an electronic transmission Guru on the forum that may shed some light onto this. Not too keen on driving car until I get tp the bottom of what's going on. :(

I’m no technician but it could be phonic rings.
Could be, I did have trouble with them and replaced all of them over two sessions, so its possible. You might get lucky and they just need a clean up, often they get a lot of debris and they rust up and this can some times be cleaned out. I also have a vague memory that the RCY error can be caused by the accelerometer that is mounted up front on the car as this affects the auto suspension adjustments, there is a thread on the accelerometer issue some where on here. Check the fuse for the accelerometer might be that easy?

Thanks for your thoughts chaps. Had a read of the W/shop manual trans diagnostics and mentions my symptom and suggests faulty wheel speed sensors! Does the OBD2 reader bring up stored trans diagnostic codes or need the "Maserati" tool? The phonic rings and wheel sensors are all very clean but on the drive that the problem began I encountered some wet dirt roads :mad:so could be worth a look under there. I'll keep digging.

Well FYI did a Batt reset, did a "Fluid bleed" slowly selecting all gears while stationary few times, drove car 200km including some sport button pushing.............no "RCY" or LHM sudden harsh downshifting!

The Italian Gremlin lives again.............until next time!

This happened a couple of times on my Asseto corsa GTA but was always a transient issue and resolved itself - car drove fine even when the light was briefly illuminated and I put it down to one of the many Maserati quirks one gets so accustomed to with these cars !
